combine threads. Combining them makes the thread so long that a lot of times I find myself not reading a thread only because it is sooooo

11. Guckert slept over at the White House???
Guckert made more than three dozen excursions to the White House when there were no scheduled briefings. On many of these days, the Press Office held press gaggles aboard Air Force One—which raises questions about what Guckert was doing at the White House.

On at least fourteen occasions, Secret Service records show either the entry or exit time missing. Generally, the existing entry or exit times correlate with press conferences; on most of these days, the records show that Guckert checked in but was never processed out.

In March, 2003, Guckert left the White House twice on days he had never checked in with the Secret Service. Over the next 22 months, Guckert failed to check out with the Service on thirteen days. On several of these visits, Guckert either entered or exited by a different entry/exit point than his usual one. On one of these days, no briefing was held.

“I’d be worried if I was the White House and I knew that a reporter with a day pass never left,” one White House reporter told RAW STORY. “I’d wonder, where is he hiding? It seems like a security risk.”

Others who have covered the White House say not checking in or out with the Secret Service is unusual. The Secret Service declined to comment.

Come to think of it, comparing the boosh** WH to a Roach Motel works on several levels, doesn't it? :-)

Secret Service records raise new questions about discredited conservative reporter

By John Byrne| RAW STORY Editor

In what is unlikely to stem the controversy surrounding disgraced White House correspondent James Guckert, the Secret Service has furnished logs of the writer’s access to the White House after requests by two Democratic congressmembers.

The documents, obtained by Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY) and Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) through a Freedom of Information Act request, reveal Guckert had remarkable access to the White House. Though he wrote under the name Jeff Gannon, the records show that he applied with his real name.

Gannon’s ready access to President Bush and his work for a news agency that frequency plagiarized content from other reporters and tailored it to serve a conservative message may raise new questions about the White House’s attempts to seed favorable news coverage. Democrats have sought to paint Guckert in the context of other efforts by the Administration to “plant” positive spin by paying for video news releases and columnists to espouse their views.

Guckert made more than 200 appearances at the White House during his two-year tenure with the fledging conservative websites GOPUSA and Talon News, attending 155 of 196 presidential press conferences. He had little to no previous journalism experience. . . .

19. My money is on Scott McClellan
I've said this before, I think Ari left early out of DISGUST. I think he saw what was happening and wanted to put a massive amount of daylight between himself and his so-called deputy, who had WAY more access to the chimp (having worked for him in TX) than he EVER did.

Poor Ari, bald--that's always good, but his face wasn't purty enough!

69. Scottie married a woman he BARELY KNEW
...just a short while ago. They had a "long distance relationship." Sorry, seems like a fluffier beard than Santa's, if you ask me!

If you work on the Hill, in the WH, at the Judiciary, at damn near ANY agency in DC, you work KILLER HOURS. Seven in the morning until ten is NOT unusual, with the real go getters coming in at six thirty and leaving at ten thirty at night. You go home to sleep, if the pull out in the office is a bit lumpy. The rest of your life is your work.

Also, in motels, you check IN. There are other guests. There are records, you could be seen, followed surreptitiously. Nothing safer than to be behind a locked door, guarded by our nation's finest law enforcement officials...unless, say, someone needs that file and has a key to your office--oh, shit!!! Whoooopsie!

Certainly worth the wait this evening. I think it shows that those on DU who said there is something else -- something significant -- involved in this story were correct.

Think of who is able to come and go without following normal procedures at the White House. A man with no documented history, beyond what he posted on the internet.

25. Photo of Lois Cassano, FWIW

From the cite upthread: Since December 2004, all but one of Gannon’s forty-eight temporary appointments were requested by Lois Cassano, a White House Press Office media assistant. One additional request was made by Peter Watkins, a press assistant who now works as deputy press secretary to First Lady Laura Bush.

But to answer your question, I think the Chief of Staff might have that authority, but I would think the SS would have kittens if it went any further than that.

Look at the dates that are up on the Raw Story website. This shit was only going on a few months, and on BASTILLE Day ARI QUIT. With almost NO NOTICE.

He either walked in on a MAN DATE, or figured out what was going on. Ari was the OUTSIDER, remember, the front man, the patsy, while Scotty, putatively number two, was the insider, the boy who worked for chimp when he was the guv of TX.

Ari ran like hell. Ari did not want to be involved. Ari sensed shit about to hit the fan. ARI KNOWS. So does that little blond gal seen handing out papers upthread.

Soul selling sucks, ya know....

cross reference the dates with unexplained entry/exit with stories that the White House wanted to push

Also, who was left at the White House that Jimmy/Jeff would have a relationship with if on those days the briefings were held on Air Force One

And, I hope someone will see if others will release their own documents re: check-ins and check-outs for comparison (in case they try to claim "Oh yeah we're just really relaxed about this here at the White House...").

76. Thanks.
It looks like his first posts were regarding Daschel. He didn't just register to be among fellow conservatives for conversation. He was showcasing his work. Nothing wrong with that, I suppose.

72. Tin foil question
According to lala_rawraw, Lois Cassano used to be a make-up person over at Fox before landing this gig.

Since December 2004, all but one of Gannon’s forty-eight temporary appointments were requested by Lois Cassano, a White House Press Office media assistant. One additional request was made by Peter Watkins, a press assistant who now works as deputy press secretary to First Lady Laura Bush.

So, Guckert only shows up when the make-up artist is there.
Hmmmm.
Are there TWO Guckerts?
How does he LEAVE when he never checked in?

In March, 2003, Guckert left the White House twice on days he had never checked in with the Secret Service. Over the next 22 months, Guckert failed to check out with the Service on thirteen days. On several of these visits, Guckert either entered or exited by a different entry/exit point than his usual one. On one of these days, no briefing was held.

We know that there have been serious breaches in security and intelligence during the Bush Maladministration. The FBI is currently investigating a well known lobbying committee.
We even know that there are fake Secret Servicemen who are linked to the Texas GOP effort.
And the White House.

April 24, 2005
WASHINGTON -- The US Secret Service is intensifying its investigation into whether a Republican volunteer committed the federal crime of impersonating a federal agent while forcibly removing three people from one of President Bush's public Social Security events, according to people familiar with the probe.
The Secret Service in Washington last week sent agents to Denver to probe allegations by three area Democrats that they were ousted from Bush's March 21 event. The three did not stage any protest at the rally and were later told by the Secret Service they were removed because an anti-Bush bumper sticker was displayed on their vehicle.
White House spokesman Scott McClellan said the man who removed them was a GOP volunteer, but he refused to divulge his name or whether he works in Colorado or Washington. ''If someone is coming to an event to disrupt it, they are going to be asked to leave," he said.

So my question is,
who was Guckert impersonating or covering?
What data was entering or leaving the White House during those Guckert visits?

75. With one of Scotty's "personal badges" of course
Anyone who has ever worked for anyone with any clout has a handful of badges they keep in the office. You run down, grab your guy, cut the line, and off you go. If they go out the regular door, they have to sign out if they can't find them in the system.

77. Those times when he didn't check out, could he have
joined some of the regular staff for lunch? You know, a car full of people leaving from the underground garage? Or is there a checkpoint? I know nothing about White House Security. Maybe someone who does can provide a scenario.

80. The only one who frequented gay bars, that we know of, is Scotty
When I hear hoofbeats, I think horses, not zebras!

....Some question whether Gannon may have leveraged a personal intimate relationship with someone at the White House to gain access to President Bush. Guckert also says he was given access to an internal memorandum which named then-covert CIA operative Valerie Plame....Sources have intimated possible relationships with members of the White House staff. Guckert did not respond to requests for comment.

RAW STORY has been told that the White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan visited a gay bar in Austin, Texas, on March 19, 1995. The date was placed exactly as a local memorial service was held on the same day.

The source, who would only comment on condition of anonymity, reserved comment on whether McClellan was actually gay, but said he was frequently seen at gay clubs. Another source also confirmed this account.

“He was often seen in gay clubs in Austin, Texas and was comfortable being there,” the Texan said. “He’s been seen in places that normal people who are looking for heterosexual relationships are not seen alone.”
