Idea - The Free Information Administration |
|
The problem with America today and the biggest threat we have ever faced is the ignorance of a large segment of America. I'm not calling anyone stupid, dumb, or idiotic. But, it is true that way too many people do not know about Christian Reconstructionism, Dominionism, the CNP, PNAC, etc. and they should.
What we need is a group to promote the spread of information and knowledge, we need to make people aware that our nation is under attack and it is in serious danger from people who promote ignorance.
Right now, there is a fight going on over the Filibuster. Way too many people actually believe that Judicial Nominees are being blocked because of their religion. These nominees are not impartial and they do not serve America. One nominee is against Civil Rights, one said it was OK to investigate what Clinton was doing and then became a champion of Executive Privilege as soon as Bush became President, and another has no courtroom experience. Should these people serve on the bench? I think not. If everybody had access to this knowledge, the vast majority of America would tell the 'christian' Right to shut up.
There are resources we have already that can help build the FIA. One is the Demopedia.
This can save America, but we have to act ASAP and build the FIA if we want it to work.

2. Not a bad idea in principle, but... |

It seems a tad too altruistic. Unless you publish ALL the information (including RW disinfo agitprop) available on a given topic, none of the people you most want to reach and turn will read it...
There are just too many lies coming out of the White House and their corporatist media surrogates for this to work the way you want it to...
Much of the ignorance in the USA is WILLFUL ignorance. Fundies believe what they choose to believe, and follow who they have FAITH in. Appeals to the truth or justice or even SANITY seem to fall on deaf ears once the kool-aid has been drunk, unfortunately...
