I just had this email forwarded to me re: Justice Sunday from FRC.org |

Watch out US...the taliban is here!
Justice Sunday Monday: SUCCESS
Telephone calls to U.S. Senators today are running "heavy" according to early reports from Capitol Hill as a result of our Justice Sunday broadcast last night. In fact it is impossible to get through to some senators, so successful is our phone campaign to stop Senate filibusters.
That doesn't surprise me! The live simulcast event, with Protestant and Catholic speakers calling for an end to filibusters against judicial nominees of faith or conservative values, was available to 61 million households in 44 states. Seven networks and 502 radio stations carried it and thousands of people watched on the internet. It was a powerful event and Senate Democrats, who lost four Senate seats in the last election, in part due to the votes of people of faith, may choose to ignore it at their own peril.
But Justice Sunday was a success even before it aired because news of the event forced Senate Democrats to defend their strategy of filibustering federal court nominees who are either people of faith or people of conservative values. Already some leading Senate Democrats are urging their colleagues to back off. Today's Washington Post story on Justice Sunday quotes Delaware Senator Joseph Biden calling for a compromise that would remove the threat of filibusters on most nominees. Just a week ago, Senate Democrats were vowing to shut down the Senate rather than give way on nominations. I don't think Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and his Republican colleague are in a mood to compromise today, not when the phone lines to the Capitol are jammed with thousand of calls demanding that Democrats stop abusing the power of the filibuster. Also, any compromise would likely sink some key conservative nominations to the courts and assure that Democrats retain the power to inappropriately use the filibuster to stop any nomination President Bush might propose for the expected vacancy on the U.S. Supreme court this summer. As Senator Frist said last night on our simulcast, "Americans elect their senators to vote on the people's business. That is a senator's job -- to vote. If these senators are not prepared to fulfill their constitutional responsibilities, then why are they here in the first place?" Senator Frist, we are behind you 100%.
Please continue to call your state's two senators all this week at 202-224-3121 and tell them to stop the filibuster of federal judges. Don't stop calling until the Democrats stop filibustering! People of, traditional religious faith and those of a conservative judicial philosophy have as much right as anyone else to have their qualifications evaluated, in an open, majority vote, by the Senate.

The release notes that the broadcast was AVAILABLE to 61 Million households....no mention of estimates on how many actually sat through the hate-fest...
but watch now,
it will be "hyped" over RW radio as having a 61 million audience....
be ready to counteract these a-holes(make that lying a-holes)

12. Right - "available" doesn't mean "watched." Besides, wasn't |
|
it only available via streaming?

4. Some phrases in the text: |
|
"was available to 61 million households in 44 states" - that's a bit different than "watched by 61 million voters in 41 states."
"it is impossible to get through to some senators, so successful is our phone campaign to stop Senate filibusters." I wonder how many senators are getting calls expressing outrage over this "event?"
Does anyone have a list of churches who signed up for Justice Sunday? I've looked on their site but couldn't find a reference.

6. But these guys are in direct contact with God. |
|
How else to explain this line:
Also, any compromise would likely sink some key conservative nominations to the courts and assure that Democrats retain the power to inappropriately use the filibuster to stop any nomination President Bush might propose for the expected vacancy on the U.S. Supreme court this summer.
Maybe they've called in a hit on Justice Kennedy.
