22. Americans are still too comfortable |
|
and still too trusting of what they're fed by corporate media. When a draft comes knocking, when they start to feel more than just a pinch of fiscal and personal discomfort from outsourcing/gas prices/tighter gov't control, they will begin to holler.
Because we no longer have the media on our side, or at least at nuetral center, a good deal of folks who just roll along in their own little lives won't become outraged until the ballbat of what is happening hits them hard on the head. Let's hope our country can survive the wait!

7. Outrage is a developing social condition |
|
Typically when people hear something that is terrible they are offended by it. But the conditions necissary to cause them to rise up in outrage requires others around them to be reacting the same.
Thus outrage depends on communication and similarity of view on the subject causing the outrage. And with the media effectively presenting the conservatives view the only outrage generated is aimed at lawyers and activist judges.
The right learned about social forces and outrage during the Veitnam war. The media covered the revulsion towards the war and this created more awareness of the problems with the war which in turn lead to more revulsion to the war. It created a feed back cycle that lead to outrage by the public.
It was this outrage that lent its power to the left. A shared anger towards a common foe. The right learned from this. And thus they set about to quell the medium by which such outrage could be directed against them.

8. Are you outraged in public (other than here)? |
|
Reason I ask is I think there is a lot of outrage out there, but it's not obvious. People are afraid to be publicly outraged, don't you think? Maybe they think they are in the minority. That's why I just tell everyone I can what I know and release the rage by enlightening as many as I can. In time, if we all do that, there will be critical mass. In time, we will understand that the low approval ratings for * are because the majority is outraged. Don't you think so?

We have to live this outrage! This is about integrity. This is about honor. This is about JUSTICE. Patriotic times call for patriotic measures...

11. Millions are brainwashed by the Lame Stream Media.. |
|
and still believe that the Bush Junta wouldn't really screw them over as they have been doing and will continue to do. Others are oblivious to what is happening to Amnerika. There are also those that believe that Bush and his thugs are good for Amerika and are helping Amerikans by the trickle down theory of econ by not taxing the whealthy and spreading democracy. Then there are those that are sure the Bush Junta is going to push Amerika towards more of the Christian ideals that they believe in.
Amerika is seriously fractured and the Dem Party has been in an appeasment mode ever since they laid down and allowed the Bush Junta to steal the 2000 Election.

I don't know what they're afraid of, but they are. Most of the people I meet are on a hair trigger, as if waiting for someone else to say something so they can spew. I help them along daily, sometimes the results are astonishing....almost scary. :wow: I should be getting a psychiatrist's wages for what I do. :)

This is a very large nation. Most people form their opinion of what is going on and what is valid based on their viewing of news and current affairs on TV. Its central to how people figure out what to do these days.
Even a great number of progressive liberals being pissed in public is not going to have the impact we hope for. Its a feed back system we are looking for. People need to be informed consistantly. They need to see other people being concerned. And they need to feel connected to the process.
The media is the means of connecting the people to one another and it has been coopted by the right. And they know the very thing they are trying to avoid.

The lecherous filth of the GOP are so criminal and inept, that my outrage pool is empty. I've not the energy to be drained by idiots for their crimes... rather i've decided to be a progressive, and make life better around me with lots of positive energy to take back the civic community for the better.
There is no victory in outrage unless it spurs you to action. Rather it can feel simply a futile battle of banging ones fists against the thick stone walls of republican criminality, something from which your fists can only get bloody and broken, to no avail.

I applaud you on taking action. I'm all for positive vibes! I can't change the way I'm feeling, though. I am angry. I am afraid. I just can't believe that I'm the only one who feels this way.
Peace.

23. You are my kind of woman, sweetheart |

...with just the kind of mentality the world needs more of.
As for everyone else... don't you get the feeling they are just plain scared? Afraid, even, of their own shadows? For they know what they are doing is wrong, but they can't make themselves change?
It's as if, as written in this thread, they are drug addicts on a binge. Instead of outrage, we must take pity on these crazed, self deluded, and manipulated individuals, by showing them the true path of a united nation with liberty and justice for all.

it's the NO-BAD-NEWS (unless it smears Dems) and if there is bad news about the bushies -- it's NOT THEIR FAULT -- THEY WERE MISLED
if that doesn't work -- they just change the rules

19. Doesn't it seem that the dumpy economy is partly to blame |
|
Everybody is busy trying to pay heating bills, electricity, gasolene etc. Insurance and health care have gone through the roof. I better slow down, I might start to froth and build up a real outrageous attitude. :donut:
The media is playing a large part in the whitewashing of all the bad. Conspiracy theorists are flummoxed because it is hard to believe anyone could be so evil and devoid of compassion.

People don't like to talk to me because i guess i push into their comfort zone or something.
