Is the "no fly" list a form of McCarthyism? |
|

After seeing a number of well known Democratic leaders like Ted Kennedy, Al Gore and others be conveniently subjegated to unecessary searches if the Homeland Security's "no-fly" list is an instrument designed to intimidate and unfairly scrutinize/scapegoat Democratic/progressive activists?
The numerous groups of individuals who have for some unexplained 'glitch' been excluded from political events (DFA and others) when there was no way of knowing who had a list of such individuals and WHY they had possessions of such a list warrants an investigation in and of itself, does it not?
In addition, hearing the news yesterday that Randi Rhodes would now be investigated by the Secret Service while they allow various extremist/white supremist groups to escape any scrutiny certainly points in the direction of a McCarthyistic approach of discrimination without a lot of accountability.
I have also had activist friends of mine who were seemingly rather conveniently detained, had their driver's licenses removed from their possession and searched for up to an hour at length. These are individuals who have no connections to any organizations other than progressive groups and Democratic organizations.
Seems more and more that the War on Terrorism is more a War on Activism and Democracy.
Thoughts and/or any other examples of political/ideological discrimination or potential 'McCarthy-istic' acts against citizens at large?
