He will say when pressed: ' Well Bill there's a lot of misinformation about me out there' and ' For legal reason I can't go into that right now' and if Bill can't get around that then this will be just another lame assed interview where he get to say what he wants and answers nothing.

I'm getting rather tired of Repugs using this bully-phrase on Dems.
It reminds me of a "bad-guy" wrestler we used to have in the Dallas circuit named Gino Hernandez, who always declared "I AM YOUR CHAMPION!" to the spectators whether he won or lost a match. That's what these Repugs remind me of.
BTW, Gino Hernandez died of a cocaine overdose. Does a similar fate await a certain failed oilman turned accidental right-wing patriarch??

133. He probably rehearsed what he was going to say |
|
since let's face it, we all had a good idea about what Maher was going to ask him: All the visits to the White House, why there are times he didn't check in/out, being a gay prostitute, etc.
He probably wrote up the answers beforehand to every scenario and then tried reciting them from memory.
It's obvious why no major news organization has scooped up this guy yet

but honestly I'm tired of Maher apologizing for what he is and what his audience feels in an effort to be fair and balanced. I happen to know for a fact it was a large issue in the series being renewed this year and honestly, maher trying to attract conservative viewers is about as futile as it gets.

There is like one show, seriously, on the entire universe of programs and cable stations, where true progressive opinions are allowed to break through the din, and Maher has to APOLOGIZE for it? And admonish the audience to not respond to it? The audience bursts into applause because it can't actually believe it's hearing the truth, and then they are scolded by Bill Maher? Look, I know he's trying to hold onto his lucrative gig, but knock the Miss Manners crap the f.. off --- can't applaude? can't express too many liberal opinions or the sole conservative guest will feel overwhelmed? That asshole didn't look too overwhelmed to me. In fact, he dominated the conversation with his nonsensical GOP talking points, like "Who's really rich?" or "why do you demean the South?"

with the constant apologies to Repugs and conservatives.
New rule, stop apologizing to Republicans for being in the minority on your show, it's only because they're in the minority on the important issues in this country. LA is hardly a hot bed of conservatism.

|
Edited on Sat Apr-30-05 02:36 AM by NightOwwl
than his live "liberal" audience.
He's actually telling them to shut up whenever they laugh at or applaud a joke or comment that might be construed as having a liberal slant. How insulting...I would be pissed if I were in the audience.
Way to sabotage your own show, Bill. Sheesh...what a killjoy.
Edited to add: Jeff Gannon was so out of his league...I felt a twinge of sympathy for him.

112. I've Been In That Audience A Lot, I Understand Why He Hushed Them |
|
It makes the person he's interviewing clam up and/or get defensive when they hear that -- if the audience stays quiet he is more likely to blab, if he blabs, he's more likely to SPILL!
I get kind of pissed when the audience reacts so loudly in a negative way that the person stops their BSing to answer it, it kind of changes the subject when they were already hanging themeselves, ya know?
Jesus that guy is another Armstrong Williams -- I wonder how much Shrub is paying him to spout all that total bull!!!

At least he kept Jeff talking! And that was fun!

131. Yes, Highly Recommended Taping! |
|
They are very nice about how they do the tickets. You just call the week of and they put your name on a list, all you have to do is show up on time (like 6:30 which is kind of hard for my husband since he gets off work around then.) It takes about an hour to get the audience seated then they have a warm up guy and once the show starts, boom, it's really fast, no stops, like watching it at home.
Once Wes Clark was on the panel & he came out to chat and shake hands....seemed like a super nice guy. Seeing Ann Coulter up close is scary -- she's SO skinny and kind of shakey, keeps her hands sort of hidden all the time and disappears as soon as they camera is off.
I have to hand it to that crew because they have no commercial breaks and no room for error on that show!

130. It was almost painful... |
|
to watch Jeff Gannon. He was out of his league... and it was a little sad.
Yet he still blindly follows a the party line and is loyal to those who have quite literally screwed him over. He is a great example of the GOP faithful... "we will blindly support you as you destroy and make a mockery of us".
This world is so bizarre...
