The 'christian' Right is a force of Evil
Edited on Sat Apr-30-05 03:06 PM by ck4829
The Pro-Cervical-Cancer Religious Right. The 'christian' Right is fighting on the side of Cancer.

The 'christian' Right would rather see war in Israel and has been an active opponent of the Peace Process.

The 'christian' Right has ties to Dictators, including but not limited to:
Frederick Chiluba, Efrain Rios Montt, Mobutu Sese Seko, Charles Taylor, etc.

The 'christian' Rightists have actively promoted ignorance. They make an all too large segment of America believe that we are obstructionist, when in fact we have only blocked 4% of Bush's Judicial Nominees.

The 'christian' Right has promoted racism. The 'christian' Right defended Apartheid.

The 'christian' Right has opposed GLBT people and their search for equality. They have also hindered research into the AIDS virus when they called HIV a curse from God.

The 'christian' Right openly opposes women. See Item 1, it is very appalling.

The 'christian' Right must be stopped.

1. Sounds rather Manichean to me
I don't hate those guys. I feel sorry for them sometimes. But I can't sign up to this rah-rah hate-a-Christian wave that's sweeping the country. May I remind you where hating a certain other religious group led Europe last century?

Peace.

2. My family is Christian
I am speaking only of the 'christian' Right. I think Christianity from the Left is a very Beautiful and Real thing.

6. agreed
because Islamic fundatmentalists and Hindu fundamentalists also tend to be intolerant and bent on violence, unlike the more liberal branches of their respective faiths.

12. I believe you completely
but there are a lot of others, including some here on DU, who don't make the distinction.

My whole point is that hate is a slippery and muscular beast that nearly always ends up out of control. So why promote it?

Sometimes these battles between us and them seem like feud between the Hatfields and the McCoys. After a while, you just hate them because they are them.

There are better ways.

Peace.

4. To Call them Christian Right is to sanctify them
Start calling them the Christian Wrong.

There can be a big impact in the use of words.....just ask Newt Gingrich.

13. Even better, call them "FRISTIANS"
because, just like their Senator, they do not follow Christianity, but rather, their own version of it.

9. Yes. It led to the Christian Right making Gas Chambers.
The Christian Right has been responsible for half the evils of the last millenia. It is not really a "religious group". It is a political force with a social agenda. They have as much to do with Jesus as Russian Communism had to do with Marx.

5. I was in the bookstore last weekend
and saw a book on cults by some rw preacher. He listed many groups and organizations that I am personally acquainted with-they all teach tolerance and understanding, don't have one "leader" and don't demand all their followers' money, etc. I think it was yet another example of how topsy-turvy the so-called "Christian" right wing have made things.

7. The Dominionist Theocratic Coup and it's Un-Christian Agenda
Edited on Sat Apr-30-05 03:03 PM by NAO
Fundamentalist Radical Clerics such as Falwell, Dobson, and Robertson are not merely medieval throwbacks or misguided religious hacks. They are part of a well organized subversionary movement known as "Dominionism". Dominionism constitutes a serious threat to American Democracy. These Radical Clerics have developed and are executing a detailed plan to gradually replace the free, secular democratic society of the United States with a Theocracy.
