You ain't seen nuthin' yet.

Bush's gotta get cannon fodder for his war with Iran.

Remember Scott Ritter's prescient views of the fiasco in Iraq? He raised the alarm about Iran about a month ago.

1. Actually, I think that'll do an awful lot of uniting.

5. Oh yes. Republicans will suddenly not give a hang who gets married to
whom or if a woman decides if she wants a baby or not.

Let republicans see THEIR child, father, brother die in Iraq - you will hear a different song being sung!

9. For this reason I too am looking forward to the draft
Maybe it will finally start getting peoples attention as to what is going on.

Of course, that will have to be offset with a new, and more aggressive, round of patriotism.

4. Would anyone unite with me on this idea?
When the draft is activated, could we suggest,
in solidarity with the Bush voters, that everyone
of their eligible sons and daughters be the first to be drafted?
We will offer to support Bush supporters by supporting
the all republican troops.

They really don't want a bunch of wimpy left wing
kids doing such an important job, do they?

They have long insulted us as fellow Americans,
so they can't actually think our kids would make
good soldiers, can they?

BHN

6. Great idea!
We need soldiers who will be inspired by the noble goals of Der Fuhrer--uh-- the President! Only those who understand the lofty principles of truth and justice can truly carry out the aims of the Reichstag-- I mean, the White House!!

Edited on Sat Apr-30-05 05:37 PM by Freedom_from_Chains
So the government can save them from a life of depraved liberalism and turn them into real men and women.

13. If I may add/suggest...
Since the modern military truely needs the very best people for combat troops...

And people who are financially successful are obviously the very best people...

First to be drafter are those who are financially successful AND the children of the financially successful (good genes, eh?) for those critical combat billets...

Only after those billets are filled should the other, needed but less critical non-combatant rear area jobs be filled, and for that we can rely on the poorer, less financially successful middle and lower classes.

14. Agree...
Besides, Rumsfeld et al really doesn't want a bunch of independent thinking draftees, and for good reason:

"Historically draftees have kept the military on the straight and narrow. By calling a spade a spade, they keep it clean. Without their careers to think about, they can't be easily bullied or intimidated as Regulars; their presence prevents the elitism that otherwise might allow a Regular army to become isolated from the values of the country it serves. Draftees are not concerned for the reputation of their employer, the Army (in Vietnam they happily blew the whistle an everything from phony valor awards to the secret bombings of Laos and Cambodia); a draftee, citizens army, so much a part of the history of America, is an essential part of a healthy democracy, one in which everyone pays the price of admission." - Col. David Hackworth

10. Gotta love the gop hypocrites.
They want war but they wont fight in it. Seems to me if they were really patriotic that they would A) enlist, and B) stop buying those two dollar ribbons and buy phone cards for our people over seas. They say they support the troops we actually do.
