If you don't like him, just don't post here. We need to police ourselves from bashing each other.
It sounds like Kerry is taking the gloves off a bit. Like I have said numerous times, he has outstanding experience and his dedication in the Senate to many things we hold dear has been without peer.
I think right now...the main criticism of Kerry has been the aura of "smugness". Senator Kerry does come off a certain way. Edwards and Dean have that charisma thing going on, Clark was in uniform just a few years ago...
Kerry is a very wealthy man who wears nice suits to many. However, I also see a very dedicated man who I believe would be like a breath of fresh air if he were to unseat the Chimpanzee.

12. Look at this and then say smug |
|
Look at these photos and then tell me this guy is aloof, smug, or anything else along those lines. When he's giving a speech, he's Presidential. When he's with the crowd, he's Clintonesque. http://gallery.johnkerry.com/gallery/baltimorechildren

14. That is a great picture |

That's the smile of a man who truly loves what he's doing at that moment. No way can you fake that emotion.
He's practically glowing.

22. No Kerry bashing from this Deanie. |

I'm just happy to see more BUSH BASHING!!!
I am delighted to see the fight and the vigor and the SPINE coming back - not only to Kerry but to LOTS of Dems. Apparently someone's noticed there's chum in the water.
It's about time. That's all. It's about time. I'm glad Kerry's doing it. I'm glad Dean's been doing it. I'm glad Clark is joining in to do it. I'm glad to see more op/ed pieces doing it. I'm glad, and very much encouraged, with every post I see that describes a disenchanted rethug or conservative or whatever who finally sees the light. We need more. And then some more, besides.
Little by little, if this continues, the rethugs will be pushed more and more to the ropes, and they'll be K-O'ed next November. And it couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch.

Thanks for the info!! :-) Jennifer

I am thrilled that one of the most liberal candidates of my lifetime has the opportunity to bring the rest of the nation with him to more progressive solutions for the world.

to hear more candidates in person. I've watched the debates on TV, but it's not the same as being in the crowd. Since Illinois definitely is in play — albeit late — I wonder why they aren't doing more things in Chicago.

I mean the operation recovery. I think both guys tried to bury the exhausting recuperative period which plainly shows up whether the spin says so or not. I think Kerry will give the impression like Antaeus of gaining strength as time goes on simply because of actual physical recovery.
Unfortunately in politics the health question is still taboo. Note the people who admitted having cancer suddenly after they lost the primaries. With Kerry it is oddly just the reverse. Great candidate.
Technically the war vote (audible groans) was a compromise defeat since they only achieved some measure of accountability that Bush shrugged off but now has come back to haunt him(whenever the media decides to note it). On the whole though the pro-war powers decision lost much more than was gained since the results of the war are bad outside of removing Hussein and others should have been listened to like Kucinich, Kennedy and Byrd. Get our candidates out of this lose lose situation because it is simply skewed until the public holds the liars and the majority accountable as much as we do the mistakes of our Senators who were "lucky" to go on record. I just would like to see the Foggy Bottom wanderers get a clue that there are truths and majorities outside of the Beltway that could have saved this needless and dangerous waste of lives. Spotting the bad guys some reasonable points(as we here often do still) gets you nowhere but trapped into their manipulation for other ends. Unfortunately that is the nature of the deliberative Senate, now virtually ignored unless it becomes a rubber stamp for Bush. Since most of the country was successfully duped on weaker evidence I don't think we should damn those without decisive power who tried to influence the nature of Bush's diplomacy/war policies even while believing the general cause was justified. It seemed the Democrats were arrayed along a spectrum trying to avert what now appears to be adamant and unchanging Bush abuse of power. Nothing worked.

Kerry would be acceptable as a Dem nominee.
Even though he did enable Dubya's invasion -- there, I didn't say "Bush's war."

“John Kerry has not only been a friend to the women’s movement, but has been a leader in standing up for women’s rights since the day he stepped onto the floor of the U.S. Senate.”
For those who don't know, Kerry co-sponsored the Domestic Violence legislation that provided funds for shelters and other services. When he was a prosecutor he set up one of the first Rape Prosecution offices in the country. He was an original co-sponsor of the Women's Health Equity Act. He expanded the Women's Small Business Center program across the country. I don't think there's another Senator who has done more for women than Kerry. The General really knows what she's talking about when she says he's been a leader from day one.

I fear it's too late for him, however. He (or his campaign people) screwed up in this campaign. He should have been the front runner. Momentum is the name of the game in politics.

He will pull this out by the end of the year, imo.
Heck, the firefighters in Iowa and NH will now be free to start campaigning for Kerry once the announcement is made next week. Don't discount their voice and activist spirit, especially post 9-11.

Kerry didn't have the moral fortitude to vote against the war in Iraq. To me, that's a deal-breaker. He might fare better with the antiwar left if he apologized for that vote, but he doesn't. Sorry that this is tiresome, but it's the truth. There's no way I'm going to vote for the people who failed to defend humane values at a time when such courage was desperately needed.
