I've got a good reason for not giving a damn...
who's in the primaries.

Our primary is in June.

JUNE!!!!!

ferchrissakess... it's all over by then.

A couple of Republicans have been trying to get it moved up to March, but it's been stalled. The machine Dems here like not having to make a choice so early. Means they don't have to go out on a limb and can play the hero to the frontrunner.

Talk all you want about positions and principles, but I'm sitting here in a town with three Democratic parties at war with each other, and two of them hold their meetings in Spanish. Sometimes Portuguese.

The rest of the state isn't in much better shape. Most states aren't in any better shape.

All politics is local. Too fuckin' local. Nobody around here has the slightest interest in who's running for President, and the "good guys" are just happy they stopped the mayor from stealing the school construction money.

So far.

This is the mayor who ran unopposed and only got half the vote. We don't even have a primary for mayor any more. Newark has a primary for mayor, but we've given up. The last guy on the city council who pushed it was arrested. His only ally on the Council was pushed out in a phony election with a spoiler dumped in. He's probably next.

OK, so I'm in a bad mood today. But I get in worse mood when I see all these arguments over highfalootin' principles when the real battle is down here in the streets.

Just win the damn thing next year and get that shithead out of the oval office.

Then we can worry about what "our" shithead is doing. At least he'll be slightly more inclined to listen to us.

We hope.
