I just wish I could get healthcare as good as my dogs receive from the vet |
|
Seriously, the health care system we have for people is like a shakedown system to sell you prescription drugs and bill for unneccesary procedures, with practically zero personal attention. But health care is the ultimate product to sell. It's life or death for people so they are willing to pay anything - and that is the pricing and customer service model that is in place.
Veterinary care, on the other hand, is priced such that the average pet owner can afford regular preventive care. My dogs have had the same vet their whole lives and he knows their history intimately. Vets perform many of the same procedures and prescribe many of the same drugs as MD's - the big difference? A comparable procedure performed by a surgeon might cost 100 or 1000 times as much.
Ok, rant over.

2. I wish my Uncle had the same healthcare as your pet |
|
He almost died this week after a heart attack and stroke; because of his wife's alzheimers and lack of insurance, was unable to be seen earlier before the problem became life threatening.
Needless to say, America's selective healthcare system may kill him.

3. We need universal health insurance |
|
Just like Dean has planned. Dean has said that all we would need for universal health insurance in America is to roll back the Bush tax cuts.
I asked my mom how much she got from the tax cut and she said about 300 dollars. Which I understand that is the amount the majorit y of Americans got. I don't know if I speak for all Americans but I would gladly give up 300 bucks for health insurance. Of course I don't make enough money to recieve a large tax cut. I just work part time at a local golf shop to help pay for odds and ends. I don't need to pay tuition since I have a full scholarship.
Of course the repubes will whine about high taxes.
