Do your Repub acquaintances ever say 'I'm TIRED of hearing about ARUBA.'? |
|
"Isn't there some more meaningful news we should be hearing about?"

2. My repub co-worker talks about it all the time |
|
Never says he's tired of it. Basically talks about "last night on O'Reilly they were talkin' to this dude in Aruba who..." You know, that kind of shit.

3. Maybe, in a nice way, you could suggest to him he needs to get a life! |
|
Or maybe just tell him you are tired of hearing about Aruba and ask him if he knows how many soldiers died this week in Iraq?
RW's in the workplace can be extremely difficult to deal with.

4. Even Andy the Right Wing Republican has had enough of it |
|
I swear the planets must be coming into some sort of weird alignment. The guy has been downright rational the last few weeks and we've even agreed to the concept that both political parties involved in our ongoing (ten or eleven years) food fight have their share of dirtbags. Plus, of course, he did build me my new computer tower (80g hard drive, DVD player/burner, Turtle Bay soundcard, 400w power pack, etc) for the low, low price of (lemme look at the receipt here...) $96.83. John He didn't even charge me for the labor -- he said he had to do something to get away from Fox News (like I said, weird) and the ongoing, non-stop Natalie coverage. Andy's a good guy, even if his politics are to the right of Alley Oop.

stopped watching the news and (drum roll please!) started listening to NPR!
Not that that is all that great these days...

6. But do any of these people make the connection, and wonder, |
|
"What's up with FOX anyway? Why do they choose to cover this shite, and Jacko, etc. all the time? Doesn't this reflect badly on their news organization, and/or possible agenda?
NAAAAAHHHH!"

7. How can something that directly affects .0000001 of the population |
|
have such a saturation of media oxygen? Of what possible value is this in educating and informing the electorate? Instead of focusing on the macro issues that affect us all: Iraq, political corruption, healthcare, environment, business.....we get human interest stories running 24/7 on all cable "news" networks.
One would think that there is a concerted effort to deflect, distract, and uninform the American people from the issues that would really matter....if only the corporate broadcast media would actually report on them.
