Have you ever been slammed - by a LW media organization? |
|
I just got slammed. Tried to dial out long distance and got a recording that my ld service was disconnected. After almost 2 hours calling my local and (authorized) long distance supplier, and being disconnected several times, I found that somone had disconnected my ld service and had it re-directed to another company.
In this case that company was "Working Assetts" which is a LW media organization that I guess, also provides long distance telephone (re-seller) service.
Does anyone here know how this works? Is it legal? I'm all for supporting left wing organizations and causes - but not if they mess with my phone service without my permission. I am very angry about this as you can probably notice.

1. Unless you notify your phone provider.... |
|
to tell them you do not want to be slammed or crammed, then it can happen. I put in the order a couple of years ago, and haven't had any problems since.
Call your phone service provider and put in the order. This will keep it from happening.

2. Working Assets long distance is not actually run by Working Assets |
|
Essentially, it's Sprint, so they're the ones slamming you.

3. Working Assets needs to make damned sure that doesn't happen. |
|
It doesn't reflect well on them or us even if it's Sprint doing the distasteful practise of "slamming".

4. Yes - you can request a do not change without written notification |
|
be put on your account and that works.
Beyond that good luck with the credit bureau's if you choose to not pay the new folks - and the time and stamps you will spend - do not think about!
But to reconnect to the old LD company is easy -
good luck!

6. you can dispute the bill with |
|
the entity that slammed you (although that isn't much fun) since they have to prove you requested the change in service and in the meantime you can use the carrier code for your carrier 1010xxx 1+10 digit number (where xxx is your carrier code) until you're corrected. You can check anytime who your carrier is by dialing 1 700 555 1212
