"My four sons and husband were killed in Iraq. U.S.A! U.S.A.!"
That's what Idiot Son implied that token military mom would chant if the 4 sons and husband who went to Iraq didn't come home.

5. Actually, I think it'd be $500,000 + up to $2,000,000 SGLI
Edited on Wed Aug-24-05 06:31 PM by TahitiNut
$2.5 million would assuage a lot of Republican 'grief.'

The minimum combat death benefit would be $250,000 per death ... or $1,250,000 for all five.

7. As a Democrat...
I would be tempted to either tell him where he could shove his 2.5 million....or donate it all to the ACLU.

3. Shameless but we knew that. Saw the same segment. (ABC)

On the other hand they gave the antiwar movement good airtime and covered a disabled vet. Bush acknowledged that 400+ National Guardsmen had also been killed.

And... they said they didn't know how big the antiwar movement is.
On to DC in September.

4. That guy jumps through a hell of a lot
of mental hoops to justify in his own little mind this damned war, and the slaughter of innocents!

6. He'd compare himself to Lincoln
Using that letter Lincoln wrote to the women who lost 5 sons. He's such a puke. Then he could start comparing his bullshit war to the civil war somehow. I hate him:mad:

9. Was Lincoln's the only "split-party" ticket
ever to be elected? Lincoln--northern Republican, and Johnson a Southern Democrat?

12. Not the ONLY, no...
You see, back in the earliest day's of the Republic, the guy running for president didn't choose his running mate. If I recall correctly, the 12th Amendment was a result of that very thing, and they changed it because the Pres. & VP couldn't get along, being from different parties. I think it was John Adams who didn't get along with Thomas Jefferson that prompted the change.

10. Well, our politics seems to look more and more like this...
Edited on Wed Aug-24-05 06:47 PM by Tamyrlin79
The divide in this country is cultural: between the christian culture and the enlightenment culture. And, the map comparing the state divide now to the divide in 1860 isn't meaningless. It is the culture war. The conservatives are right about that. It is a political war that has not spilled over into violence like the last one....yet (and pray that it does not). But, the national schism is the same, and the threat is very much there.
