Every fundie I know (and that's quite a few) are hailing Katrina as |
|
another sign of the end times. Is anyone else dealing with this kind of crap? I actually snapped on my mother in law and told her "it's not the end times, its global warming, and you better not scare my children with your views of this tragedy". Guess I'm out of the will for sure, but I can't fucking take this babble any more!

11. Was the same God responsible for the 800+ dead Shiite Pilgrims... |
|
... on their way to worship?
I haven't heard some kind of religious rationalizing of the hurricane yet, but I'm sure I will.
Probably from the same people who told me, after the election, that it was "God's will" that Bush won.

it is sooooo depressing! I get the same stuff day in and day out from my mother. The world has been in the "end times" since I was a child. Thank God I have learned to "zone her out". Lots of luck to you!

5. Remember, the world was supposed to end in 2000 |
|
and for the last several decades people climbed on roofs waiting for the rapture? They had given all their money away, probably with Falwell and Robertson. Remind her that no one knows the time according to the Bible, unless she's got some kind of inroad.

for sure.
They started with the tsunami and I dont think it's going to stop for the next 7 years.

20. Questionable whether hurricanes can be altered - they had some |
|
success with seeding, but then other areas complained of too much rain, or too litlle.
I'd rather see the hurricanes seeded than letting their power and wind and water do what they have done.

they wonder, "How could this happen? It can't be because of people like me overusing resources and polluting more than our fair share! It can't be out support of Republican policies! It must be the end times!"

29. You can't strap nine kids into a minivan (the largest of them seat eight) |
|
You'd need a fairly large full-sized van for a brood of that size. Otherwise, I agree with you. The "end times" concept is an escape valve to blame others and defer, avoid or deny one's share of responsibility for the the world's problems.

I used to have no idea myself, then one day I woke up and I had a station wagon :scared: with a carseat in the back that cost twice as much the car I rode around in as a child. Lately I find myself wishing for a minivan :eeek: which is why I know what holds how many people.
I wouldn't trade the kid for anything, but there are times when I miss having no transportation expenses except for the ocassional quarter in the gas station compressor to add air to my bike's tires. I spend way too much money on my car, even though it's reliable and paid off, I don't know how people with payments manage.

22. i can't even face those that i know will be doing this- tell them |
|
they are not very good 'christians' if they think they know this is the begining of the end- And use that as an excuse not to try and stop these wars, and prevent tragedies such as Katrina- Jesus said "no man knows, not even" HIM- Throughout history people have used that same tired lame defense for pretending they don't have to 'care'- That this is 'to be expected'- And if this is the kind of 'christian love' that their God is symbolic of, then i'll rot in their hell with the folks who DO care- and aren't willing to sit back and blythly mouth scripture and proclaim that 'the end' is near, with smug anticipation.- to live any other way would be to be eternal hell as far as i'm concerned.
DENIAL will drown THEM in a sea of their 'neighbors' tears.

There's no reasoning with them, so just yell at them. Call them stupid. That's all they're good for--putting down for our enjoyment.
Note: I'm being serious. I mean, they're so f**kin delirious, there's nothing we could ever say to convince them of anything rational. So, just figuratively smack 'em for fun.

They're idiots and shouldn't be taken seriously. Tolerance has worked against the good in this case. They bought their way into political legitimacy. Now they can pay again as they go out. I refuse to suffer their infantile distortions anymore. Enough is enough.
