An Hour? They are Giving an Hour? Damn Them! |

So I've been reading that various broadcast and cable networks are putting together separate little benefit shows/concerts to help the victims of Katrina. A rag-tag disjointed assembly of benefits. The 6 major 'broadcast'(non-cable) networks are holding a one hour concert/telethon early next week in 'roadblock' fashion.
Well screw that! One hour? The 9/11 concert got a two hour exclusive "roadblock" across most all broadcast and major cable channels!
Sorry for me being so BOLD, but this disaster shadows 9/11!!! Yes, this disaster doesn't have every American fearing in their homes, but damn it, it's looking likely more lives will have been lost and hundreds of thousands of people are and, will be for a long time, suffering as a direct result than those on 9/11 did.
So screw these little nickle and dime offers at unitity from the entertainment community. Get together and "roadblock" all broadcast and cable channels for HOURS in one single major event. Run it like the MD telethon, except across EVERY channel! It's not like they would be lacking for musicians and celebrities to donate their time and skills.
This is huge, people, and we are not taking it seriously!!!! And I'm mad as hell.
(edit to correct at least two types .. probably more :( )

I'm not going to judge the network's actions until after the casualty counts come out and the whole country has had some time to swallow the true impact. Despite all the coverage a lot of people haven't wrapped their heads around how big this is quite yet. They could easily end up running some larger events later.
Plus there is no organized advocacy yet among victims' families. Such could be jumpstarted by 9-11 families organizations if they were inclined to lend an organizational hand... but of course that will have to wait until after many more rescues and a lot of recovery.
