In light of recent (and past events) how far should we take it?
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 09:29 AM by shadowknows69
The march on Washington Sept 24th to be exact. Are we going to be just another protest that barely gets noticed? Particularly since the MSM can now go wall to wall coverage on any aspect of of the hurricaine and recovery without apology. Or do we do the dirty work of democracy. The work and risks that those men who signed the declaration of independence took upon themselves to fight tyranny and to fight a government that had few to none of their needs and concerns in mind. Do we politely go away on the 25th when our protest permits run out or are there enough of us with the fortitude to demand satisfaction as citizens and the consequences be damned. If there's a million of us in the streets do we have the strength to say to George Bush and Dick Cheney. You have proven yourself unworthy of the oaths you took for your offices. We the people vote No confidence in your leadership and demand your resignation or at least a countrywide vote on the issue of no confidence and we're not leaving until we get it. You can label us an insurrection and try to take us away but we shall not be moved. You can fire tear gas and pepper spray at us but we shall not be moved. You can ask citizen soldiers of this country to fire on us until the streets of Washington DC run red with patriot blood but we shall not be moved. This is our revolution and it can be as easy or as hard as they want to make it. This is the final fight for the greatness this country once held. No more easy ride. Time to stand or hide. I shall not be moved. We shall not be moved. What say you?

My boss knows it could be even longer (thanks, cool-ass boss, for understanding!)

7. I see your eyes are wide open
I have been ranting for a while that the situation has developed to a level where it is beyond political repair. It is now up to the people to carry out repair.
I believe the 24th will be rather timely. Every sign says the masses have had enough and the trigger could be the DC rally.

Get a million people there and stay. Each day more will arrive.
In my dreams I see DC from space and it is smothered with seething humanity demanding their country back. Peacefully like the Orange Revolution. And just as insistant.

9. I don't think what you are suggesting is realistic.
We have not yet built a NONVIOLENT MOVEMENT in this country that could take such a stand AND expect to receive massive sympathetic support no matter how the media demonized it -- as you know damn well they would.

Like Cindy Sheehan who has pointed the way, whatever happens must be of such a nature that the AVERAGE American citizen IDENTIFIES with the resistance to tyranny.

I don't think we're there yet. Just my opinion.

11. Ask those people waiting in lines for a bus out of NO if we're there yet
Ask the ones who haven't had water in 4 days... Are we there yet?
Ask those two cops who were just shot in NO are we there yet?

14. Man, I'm on your side. Unfortunately the people in NO experiencing
this disaster are not yet the majority of the American people. That is the point. Until you have a MAJORITY of the American people behind you -- any attempt to get this regime to resign will be spun by the media into A CAUSE FOR VIOLENCE AGAINST CITIZENS and further justification for extreme social oppression masquerading as "law and order."

That is what I'm afraid they are doing in NO right this minuite.

12. What clearer message could we send to "average" America
whatever the hell that means. I'm average America and I want my fucking country back. I'm talking about Non violent revolution but there has to be willingness to sacrifice. How much worse can things get hoping the election fix isn't in and we can win seats in 2006. And then how much worse can things get hoping that our "bought and paid for" democratic leaders will change anything that needs changing. We have to make aware that THE PEOPLE of this country are willing to stand against all enemies of the Constitution. Foreign and especially domestic.

15. I understand where you are coming from. But your statement begs the
question: ARE the American people with you in willing to sacrifice as you advocate to get their country back?

I don't see it. Not the numbers needed. That's all I'm say'n.

16. Over 50 million...
...people voted against shrub in the last 2 elections. They are all ready to scream - and more besides.

Is that enough to mount a challenge?

17. You tell me. If you have the people who administer the system at
office and street level on your side, then you have a counter coup against the cabal.
