pResident Caught In Another Lie
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article4110.htm

<snip>
During a press briefing at the Whitehouse with United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan on Monday, 07/14/03, our president continued to lie to the American people.

This latest instance of Presidential deceit relates to the reasons for the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

When questioned about his comments in the state of the union address relating to the now discredited claim that Iraq tried to buy Uranium yellowcake from Niger, the president said.

"The larger point is, and the fundamental question is, did Saddam Hussein have a weapons program? And the answer is, absolutely. And we gave him a chance to allow the inspectors in, and he wouldn't let them in. And, therefore, after a reasonable request, we decided to remove him from power, along with other nations, so as to make sure he was not a threat to the United States and our friends and allies in the region. I firmly believe the decisions we made will make America more secure and the world more peaceful."

This as clearly a lie by our president, "And we gave him a chance to allow the inspectors in, and he wouldn't let them in. And, therefore, after a reasonable request, we decided to remove him from power"

President Bush has rewritten history and provided a new reason as to why he ordered the US invasion of Iraq.

The actual circumstances were that the UN inspectors were in Iraq and the Iraqi government was providing unfettered access to UN weapons inspectors. UN inspectors were busy dismantling Iraqi missiles when they were instructed to leave Iraq, prior to the US - UK invasion.

This is just one more example of president Bush hiding one lie behind another.

Why will our main stream media not follow up on theses outrages untruths and insist that the president be held accountable for his lies.

The full text of the presidents remarks can be found here http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/07/20030714-3.html

1. anyone see this on cable news yet?
just wondering if this one will stay under the radar screen. Perhaps we need to start emailing the transcript to the cable talking heads and demand an analysis on the air.

3. There is NO positive way to spin this....
None.

This clip should be played over and over again like the infamous "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" clip.

Although with Bu$h's lie, we KNOW he was lying when he said it.

5. Doesn't help.
I agree that could be the attempt at spin but it's EXTREMELY weak.

The Chimp should be a cooked goose after that lie yesterday.

9. Kick
I don't know why more has not been made of this total fabrication. This guy is an absolute moron to state that Hussein refused to let the weapons inspectors in when they were in there for three months and left only because we forced them out to wage a preemptive attack.

10. Why can't someone just call Blix?
Blix can refute what Bush said, and that would be major news.

Either he himself beleives this lie or he beleives that this lie is beleivable. Either way he's delusional.

13. Yippee!!!!! I posted this last night
and I sent it to Information Clearinghouse and to Paul Begala and to MWO and to a bunch of other places trying to get it out. And, apparently, it WORKED!!!!!! I'm feeling SO GOOD about it! I heard him say it, couldn't believe my ears, went and found the transcript and had heard NO ONE mention it when I posted it last night & then began my email blast of it.

15. the usual suspect
I don't know if he's delusional or just stupid. My guess is this remark is a result of the latter. He doesn't think too fast on his feet and I think he just started blabbering away. He has a propensity to lie anyway and just overstepped the bounds of common sense.

17. He was getting cocky
It was at the very end of that q&a session with Kofi Annan -- can you IMAGINE what Annan was thinking when he heard it???? -- and * said he would take "a couple -- two -- questions." But then he got cocky and took a couple more. This was the last question and right after he said it, his staff said, "that's all." I'm sure they were crazy when they heard it ... and I'll bet they went to bed last night thinking they had escaped. HA!!!!!!!
