This May be the End of Democracy Folks
I'm sorry to say this but what we have before us could mean the end of what our Forefathers have fought so dilegently for. I understand those in power are not legitimate nor have they come to power legitimately, but soon all that may not matter.

We have two Supreme Court Justices being appointed by a Fascistic Dictator. We have the Repeal of the Estate Tax, an Illegal War and what appears to be deliberate act of Genocide on a city of poor folk. Sound extreme?

We live in very extreme times. It's time for the moderates to open their goddamn eyes and see the situation for what it really is. For the longer those of you out there who don't see the severity of the situation we all find ourselves in, the worse your moment of clarity will be.

I know how I sound. And maybe, Bush's actions will be washed away by a tsunami of public discourse, but I would like to think We the People don't need such a challenge on our hands before we do something BIG to stop these bastards. Then again, what do we do? I believe WE the PEOPLE have to force them to step down.

don't for a moment think this battle we're in isn't for what the good people have been fighting for since jesus wore runnin shoes....and don't for a moment think 1984 (in 1984, the terror attacks were staged routinely, for social control/cohersion, the 'resistance' was a party operation that trapped anti party idealists etc) wasn't a desperate warning to the 'people'...if 'truth' is defeated in USA to extent it not a factor in gov policy, then humanity will die with it simply because a fascist USA will fight any effort to empower the 'people' anywhere and thus will waste everything just surviving...

Three steps a head and 2 and a half back. We do have some rules on business that are holding and women can vote. I am not sure about blacks right now. This looks like a real set back.

The problem with 2000, besides the voter turnout, was GORE'S inane adivsors. If they would have only called for an ENTIRE RECOUNT OF THE STATE OF FLORIDIA, THERE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE

Instead they selectively picked counties to recount

we, the people have given it away...and, we have sold it for a damned cheap price, too. We do get the government we deserve...this is supposed to a government of, by and for the people. Well, we are "the people," which means it's up to us. If we let those in charge "off the hook," and we don't hold our "leaders" accountable-----we'll get everything we deserve. The question is: how badly do we want it?

In a democracy, you get the government you deserve. If you don't participate or pay attention, don't be surprised when your beautiful democracy morphs into something else entirely.

People don't vote & they don't pay attention to what our legislators are voting on. Most people I know couldn't tell you what the 'death' tax is (or as we should call it, the Paris Hilton tax relief), when it's going to be voted on. Once it's voted on, they don't know how their reps voted or care to find out. They may bitch & whine, but they will continue with their apathetic & complacent ways & wonder what the hell happened when they wake up one day, cold & hungry & living in a corporatocracy that doesn't give a shit about anything but profits.

The illusion of democracy is far too effective a propaganda tool to jettison. They'll never let it get to that state; we'll always have AT LEAST some semblence of "free speech...." not that we'll able to actually change things, but we'll still be able to make a ruckus. 54. We're not in a democracy anyway. The last 5 yrs should have illuminated
that for you. We're a republic headed for an oligarchy. The middle class will be removed and the wealthy made to fear poverty so much that they will do what is necessary to protect their material possessions. Corporations will have the power and the 'president' will only be a mouthpiece to allow people to think their votes still count. I'd say we've already knocked on that door and the dude in a cowl has answered the door.

Our votes have been removed. Our media controlled. We're made to fear and to think that our govt can protect us from some evil (one that we've created) and need them to sleep at night.

Exteme would be to get our power back but I think once a civil war has started we're going to become much more splintered than ever before.

.. to time, I see my brothers and sisters get restless and push back a bit harder than usual, so I continue to be cautiously hopeful. And I'm thinking right now we might be gearing up for a bit more of a rumble than Bush's base really expects.
