Saturday Night Live must have done so many rewrites!
I bet they've rewritten the show opener 15 times by now. What a hell of a week. I wonder who will play Rush and the other miscreants? A Bubba character would be schweet.

Gee, I just looked up "miscreant" at dictionary.com and the very first definition is "eveildoer"!

3. Jack Black is hosting
maybe Al will hijack the monologue! That would be hysterical - and you KNOW Black would be up for it!

6. Puh-leeze.
They wrote it at the end of last season...the usual kiss-ass to the regime, attacks on the French, attacks on Iraq, inside jokes, skits about being hip--that if anyone doesn't laugh--they just don't get it...

They lost me forever after 9/11. They caved. They turned over and became supporters of what the * regime was doing to this country--and tried to make it hip.

Mad TV has been 100% funnier w/o trying to play the political game--they're not good at it either. It takes intelligence--which only the Daily Show staff seems to have.

Go check out the articles in today's media--they make it so clear that SNL has lost it--something many of us have known for well over 2 years.

7. Tonight Will Decide Whether SNL Is Lame All Year or Not
Darrell HAMMOND ticked me off when he kissed Shrub's ass at the first White House Correspondents' Dinner. And they have given Shrub a pass ever since. Although Bartcop seems to like Tina FEY and she's personally a Lib, she's been steering a limp writing ship.

If they come down hard on Ahhhnuld tonight, they will have a decent season. If not, it's more of the same Shrub-licking.

'course they always have the comedians' escape clauses: 1) "I'm ONLY a comedian"----HAMMOND. 2) We WANT fuck-ups like Shrub and Ahhhnuld in office because they GIVE US MATERIAL.

9. Attacking SNL for doing political comedy
Is like attacking a banana split for being tasty.

Of course it's a matter of opinion whether they succeed at being funny or not, but SNL is not "supporting the * regime."

11. FERRELL Was the Best
And, given the lame cheerleading routine he would do, it would have ROCKED if he had done Shrub as the cheerleader.

15. They are scorching Ahnold
He's giving a "policy speech" that is long on generalities and ideals but 100% void of ideas. Plus, they've got subtitles so we know what he is saying. Hilarious.

Flip on over to MadTV to see real comedy!

The Bill O'Reilly & Gray Davis skit was hilarious! Not to mention the Snuggle bear and the old woman talking about Schwarznegger.

21. Can't Get MadTV - Finally into Weekend Update
It's all been character sketches so far. FALLON did an item on Ahhhnuld. FEY did a CLARK and SHARPTON. Both doing LIMBO, HAMMOND doing LIMBO: "My remarks about McNABB were directed at the media, not racist against Blacks, just very black Blacks. (drugs) If I go to jail there are a lot of pissed off Black guys. ... You can't hurt Rush LIMBAUGH, (have popped so many pills) I feel NOTHING, (takes out a hammer and hits hand) NOTHING, NOTHING AT ALL."

19. Strange..MSNBC blasts SNL(NBC)?
http://www.msnbc.com/news/974916.asp

Oct. 2 — There are countless good reasons to love ‘Daily Show’ host Jon Stewart. He’s smart, he’s decorating his office with a pair of shiny new Emmys, and he’s responsible for proving to the smarmy Craig Kilborn that no one is indispensable. But here’s another reason, if you need one: he constantly shows up “Saturday Night Live,” television’s most complacent comedy franchise, which starts its new season Oct. 4 on NBC.

28. Rewrites or no rehearsal
I can't believe it, but the cue card reading is nearly as bad as when Deniro was on last season. They must have little to no time to rehearse the new material, as a lot of the cast and especially Jack Black are obviously reading off of cue cards. Usually it's just one skit at the end, but this is ridiculus, the Chef skit was a pure piece of shit and no one knew their lines.

I for one will give SNL one last chance before I confine it (again) to my past viewing habits.

31. I was not impressed, either. The best bit was

the list of things Bush* can't find. The thong diapers segment was funny, too.

Of course I rarely watch SNL anymore. It was best in the days of John Belushi, Dan Ackroyd, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, Jane Curtin, Laraine Newman, Steve Martin.

But all the great material available for political satire should have led to a better show, instead of Jack Black everywhere, seeming to just re-do bits from his movie trailer being aired so frequently now. Are the writers on strike?
