Couple reunited with pets left at N.O. hospital

MIKE STOBBE

Associated Press

ATLANTA - A Louisiana couple had a tearful reunion Wednesday with the four pets they left behind in a flooded New Orleans hospital.

"My girls! My girls!" cried Valerie Bennett, 34, to the cat, guinea pig and two dogs she was forced to abandon during an evacuation from Lindy Boggs Medical Center last week.

Last week, the Bennetts were brought to Emory University Hospital, where Lorne Bennett - a 62-year-old liver transplant patient - has been receiving care.

But the childless couple remained distraught about their pets.

2. Dr. Riopelle really does deserve a reward for staying until the
animals were evacuated. I salute you, Dr. Riopelle; you're quite a guy.

3. What do we know about Tenet Healthcare?
They, as well as that vet, should be applauded for what they did. Turning your hospital into a temporary animal shelter is pretty damn cool, if you ask me. Staying until the animals were rescued is heroic.

7. thanks, Beaverhausen. I love the Birdcage. When things are rough
and I need a laugh, I can rely on this movie for a good chuckle. It's one of the few comedies that I can watch over and over. I think the whole thing is just pure gold. Have a good night!

:hi:
