I posted a thread several days ago that has been archived and tried to update later. There appeared to be no interest and I was too busy to keep looking for it during Level 3 times. Anyway, my cousin is with the COE and has been working the levee repair for days now. It has been long and difficult work and slow to start because their supplies didn't get to them quickly. Anyway this is the latest from his wife this morning:
" I spent yesterday getting prescriptions filled for everyone. Some of the pharmacies up here are running out of meds. Then drove the to xxxxx to catch a boat headed for N O. A lot of people here are headed for the area. The COE is hiring thousands. They need professionals that are licensed in their field. Probably will spin off needing unskilled but not quite yet. We are getting busloads everyday coming up. The big problem is packs of wild dogs. XXX killed a huge timber rattler yesterday. They usually arnt very big but this thing was 4 ft long and 4 inches in diameter. He is sending a box of cds of photos up. Told me we will be astounded at what we are about to see from ground level. They are in an area where even CNN cant get to. The media was confined to certain area so these pictures will be from other parts of the city and countryside. Well need to get in gear and go run errands all day. They still have the other opening to fill. Having problems getting dozers to them. Some of the people there think they are coming to tear their houses down and have taken shots at them. That is one reason they are pushing to get them out of there."

I look forward to hearing, and hopefully seeing more...
Looks like most of the reporters have been 'shooed' away... :( It's important that the working people on the ground be our eyes and ears now...
