It's funny that Novak is talking about Limbaugh and defending him. He says it is a free speech issue.
It really isn't. Capital Cities/ABC/ESPN is the owner of the station and the bandwith. It's their show and station. They can put on whomever they want and reject whomever they don't want on the air.

2. Free Speech is only for rightwingers |
|
Protesters, liberals, all Democrats need to be tried for treason if they exercise any free speech.
For rightwingers, on the other hand. all media outlets are supposed to be required to give them all the air time they want and ignore any complaints from listeners about them.

4. Limbaugh has every right to state |
|
his ignorant opinion.Altough ABC/ESPN is not obligated to be a vechile for Rush Limbaugh to spread his radical veiws. That show was defintely not a forum for Limbaughs divesive retorhic. Many many fans of NFL football tune in to ESPN countdown for informed anylisis by football experts.
At the start of this season ,I quit watching ESPN because I knew where this was heading. With the hiring of Limbaugh,A large degree of objectivity was lost.Along with the credibilty of the network. As much as I dislike it many sports activities are being transformed to entertainment, instead of competition. It started with the boom of pro-wrestling and went downward from there. While the value of sports to be entertaining is important,The competition must be preserved. Also the competition is paramount to the hype around and leading up to the event.
Rush Limbaugh's presence on ESPN countdown is an example of this hype.In closing Rush is wrong, the comment was racist and personally degrading to Donovan McNabb,he deserves an apology, but people as arrogant as Limbaugh is,he will never apologize.Rush will think his position is the right one until last minute of his soul heats up in the fires of hell.
