Bush's inherent vulnerablity: National Security/Foriegn Policy |
|
In 2004 the economy wont be a winner however it is. National Security/Foriegn policy will be Bush's vulnerability. Why? For one reason: The Bush Doctrine. This goes beyond mere failures (which there are plenty of). This is the most fundamental policy decision this administration has under taken or will under take. This doctrine is the derivative in his calculus, the water in his sea. This is what his administration will be remembered for, 10 years after he leaves office, 100 years, and for the rest of the lifetime of the republic. This was his response to 911, which was beyond any doubt the most important event in his entire presidency. This is the cornerstone of his presidency, and it is, luckily enough, the worst, most sinister document ever to come out of the White House. Bush will have to defend this policy. There is no way around it. If he defends it and the democrats attack it, and offer an internationalist alternative, he will lose. If he abandons it, he will look wishy washy and will lose. He has no choice, but to defend it.

1. Clark receives $3.5 million in 14 days. |
|
Just got the following email from the Clark campaign. This just has to drive the Repugs nuts! --------------------------------------
Dear Friend:
Just over two weeks ago I answered the call from Americans across the country, and announced my candidacy for President.
Since then, I have traveled across the country, meeting with thousands of supporters in small towns and big cities. I've spoken to them about a new vision I have for our country - a New American Patriotism - a new era where citizens can speak their minds, serve their country, and demand more of their leaders.
The response has been overwhelming. People from all backgrounds have volunteered their time, their energy and their support to build a movement that can take back the White House.
Tonight, I am pleased to announce to you that we have answered that question, and we've done so in a remarkable way. Because of your help and the support of thousands of others across this country, we have raised $3.5 million in just two weeks.
To raise that amount of support in just fourteen days is both humbling and exhilarating. Beyond that, it gives me a great sense of pride in our effort and optimism about what we can accomplish together.

2. Foreign policy is even more of a double-edged sword |

than the economy.
Democrats need to be very wary of putting all our eggs in that basket.
All * has to do is get Saddam or Osama under wraps (or ground) in OCt. 2004 and watch what happens.
