Fox Sports Dealing with Rush |
|
Jimmy Johnson slams Limbaugh
Howie Long says that respect is earned and that McNabb deserves it. He called Limbaugh racist and ignorant.
Bradshaw says that he doesn't care about race. Winning is all that matters. He says that Fox would chastise people publically and on the air. He is 100% certain of that.
James Brown says that Tom Jackson is taking unfair heat. In 18 years he has not seen any black QB or McNabb "coddled". Embracing diversity will bring us to unity. Limbaugh opens a new wound. Limbaugh added to the divide on race. He hopes it's not indicative of other attitudes.

1. I agree with all 4 of them |
|
Also the Best Damn Sports Show slamed Limbaugh too, Arsenio Hall said that It was irnonic that Rush resigned so late because that is when the klan does their best work.

2. And ESPN was critical too |
|
All four host of Sunday NFL Countdown (Chris Berman, Steve Young, Michael Irvin and Tom Jackson) ripped on Rush this morning. Tom said he realized later on that he should've said something about when Rush made the comments. Tom even went so far to say that they didn't like the idea of Rush being hired in the first place.

8. That's a fair assessment |
|
Sometimes you may hear someone say something and it probably didn't register in your mind at the time as to what that person said. It's also possible that Tom didn't want to get into a shouting match on national TV and risk doing something to embarrass himself and the network.

13. Tom said that he was just trying to talk football. |
|
You know, the way Rush was hired to talk football, and football only.
Jackson said he framed his anti-Rush argument during last Sunday's show in the context of on-the-field performance. I feel sorry for Jackson and Irvin, and the heat they've taken for remaining silent during Rush's racially-motivated attack. Their performance on Countdown this morning was classy, and I even had a few tears in my eyes while listening to their explanations.
Usually, the only time I have tears in my eyes while watching football stuff is when the Bengals are on the field.

6. Jackson's taking heat for not immediately reacting more strongly |
|
if I understand the situation correctly--the feeling is that four hosts sat around and let Rush run his mouth without anyone delivering an appropriately outraged response.

7. That's the heat on all 4 |
|
but Jackson particularly because some (unhappy over rushes departure) are angry at the comments he made post-show

9. It did seem as though he tried to interject |
|
Randi Rhodes played what Rush said several times last week on her show. She didn't play much else after Tom tried to interject. I didn't see the show myself. But as I said above, maybe Tom took a step back so as not to embarrass himself and the network.

11. I Have The Answer........ |
|
Jackson said he was taking some heat from black NFL players and black friends.
Then he gave a 5 minute speech ripping Rush to shreads.
He said before Rush was hired he promised to not make any social commentary, and he promised to not make any political commentary. Jackson said Rush broke both of those promises.
He also said he opposed ESPN hiring him because he has been a known racist for years. He said he was sorry for not responding to Rush at the time, and that he just dropped the ball on that one.
All four hosts ripped Rush and said they disagreed with what he said, but Tom Jackson really looked upset and gave the best comment on Rush.

10. ESPN should have listened to us |
|
in the first place. All of the form letters they sent back defending the pigboy, were no more than a slap in the face. I for one am glad to see them with a big black eye.
