Are heads exploding? Two weeks of freepers saying Bush not at fault |
|
Edited on Tue Sep-13-05 11:36 AM by johnnie
Now he says he is the one who is at fault..LOL.
So now is bush not telling the truth? Does this go to show that freepers will blindly yap because they are sheep? Are al those ridiculous emails being called back for repair? These are rhetorical questions of course. I can't wait to see all the spins on this one.
On edit: I don't mean "at fault" I meant that it was his responsibility to oversee the aftermath. Sorry, to confuse anyone. I was in the middle of eating and my mind was on food. :)

1. HE DIDN"T SAY THAT AT ALL |
|
he said 'to the extent the federal government is at fault'.....TO THE EXTENT.
in other words, after he investigates himself and finds he did nothing wrong, the apology is not operable.

8. Thank you...just more pandering lies from * |
|
What he said is about the same thing kids say when they get caught being bad.
"Yeah, to the extent playing baseball in the house broke the lamp, it's my fault. But who put the lamp there in the first place, MOM?"
(That's not the best example, but I think you can see what I'm getting at.)

15. So smart of him to announce that he would lead the investigation himself |
|
Enough of these pesky Senate investigations - they whitewash so SLOWLY.

They'll take it as proof that he's a heckuva guy, willing to put his own interests aside for the sake of our nation's unity, not lowering himself to playing the "blame game" by accepting it himself (although of course saying he accepts it is quite meaningless). Then back to business as usual!

7. Let's take him at his word AND point out that the feds |

who are largely appointed by him have the lion's share of the responsibility for not doing their jobs.

14. Brownie didn't do his job ... |
|
Despite saying "Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job", Brownie now did a poor job.
Brownie, will be the fall guy. But don't weep for Brownie, he will be well compensated to take the fall and keep any and all heat off the President.
But what cannot be passed over here is the COMPLETE lack of accountability for appointing this man in the first place. Presumably the President has this obscure agency known as the FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION available to do these weird things called "background checks". And presumably these seasoned agents could reveal in months what took NBC a couple of days. Brownie's limited credentials were fabricated.
So why did this guy get nominated for such an important position. That all depends on what the meaning of "important" is. Because if you don't think disaster management and recovery is important, than the directorship of FEMA is about as important as the consular of Bermuda.
And here we see a reflection of Bush's priorities. Contrary to the "we're keeping you safe" slogans, Bush has no such things on his mind.

16. Who's weeping for Brownie. |

All I said was hold * accountable for his role as the CEO President. * like to tout what a "take charge" kinda guy and his "attitude" is alway that of proactivity. Sure, he was in charge. Don't we believe * when he says he's in charge?
I'm not sure how you misread my comments, but I think that taking him at his word should be done. He like to present himself as the federal government, then make him eat his words.

|
Edited on Tue Sep-13-05 12:23 PM by librechik
He said "to the extent that the federal govt is responsible, I take responsibility."
Now we get to argue over how much responsibility the feds have.
Not much, according to his party.

13. Okay, I know that Bush was playing the Weasel Game |
|
But what if we just blow past what he meant or said, and just start saying that Bush admitted he was to blame for the magnitude of destruction caused by Katrina?
Let's let the Republicans (for a change) spend all their energy trying to explain what Bush really meant, while we just keep saying that Bush admitted his own culpability, over and over again.
See the way that works?
