Joan Baez and Living Things Join Operation Ceasefire

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Operation Ceasefire, an eleven hour free concert and rally to bring the troops home from Iraq at the Washington Monument on September 24, 2005, is pleased to announce new additions to the line-up of performers. Legendary folk singer Joan Baez and the rock band Living ThingsThievery Corporation, punk-rock bands LeTigre and Bouncing Souls, country music recording artist Steve Earle, independent artists Ted Leo + The PharmacistsWayne Kramer of the MC5 with the Bellrays, socially conscious hip-hop groups The Coup and Head-Roc, the duo The Evens (Ian Mackaye and Amy Farina), Grammy Award-winning African American female a cappella ensemble Sweet Honey in the Rock, Latin punk rock group Machtres, and host Jello Biafra. are now confirmed to perform. Operation Ceasefire is sponsored by United for Peace & Justice www.unitedforpeace.org which has planned three days of action (Sept. 24-26) to stop the war in Iraq. The Operation Ceasefire concert will immediately follow a massive rally and march that begins at the Ellipse near the White House at 11:30 am and will at end at the Washington Monument.

A final line-up of speakers is still evolving and will be announced soon with a detailed time schedule for all performers and speakers. The concert will begin at 2 pm and end at approximately 1 am.
