Norton dodges query on leaving Cabinet
Critics continue to pummel her

By Joey Bunch
Denver Post Environment Writer

Despite howls of protest from conservationists in the past week, Interior Secretary Gale Norton said she has no plans to leave the Bush administration. Maybe.

"The pull of Colorado is awfully strong," said the state's former attorney general on Friday after a week of bruising attacks over her policies on public lands and threatened species of wolves and owls.

Asked by The Denver Post if that was a yes or a no, she replied, "I'm certainly enthusiastic about being part of President Bush's team."

Critics have pushed for Norton's ouster since she joined Bush's Cabinet in 2001. They have turned up the heat since Christine Todd Whitman, another favorite target, resigned in June as head of the Environmental Protection Agency.

2. 1983 & 2003
This reminds me of when james watt, reagan's Interior head quit right before the '84 election got into swing so it could make ronnie look environmentally friendly. :eyes:

Thank God that the Washington press corps isn't so easily manipulated now as then and will hold bushco accountable for their nonsense! Ooops, scratch that last part! :silly:
