5. I am an Iowa Hawkeye fan and actually you do get it- |
|
who gives a shit. The visiting locker room at Kinnick Stadium has been painted pink since the late 1970's. Our coach at the time, Hayden Fry, read somewhere that the color pink makes people passive. We had a pretty bad program at the time and Fry wanted to use every advantage he could, thus the pink locker room.
Little has been said about this issue in the 25 or so years since... Until this week when some lackey proffesor complained that the pink paint was sexist or homophobic or both. This has caused quite a stir around here all week.
To me, stupid crusades like this one demean real issues. Coach Fry used pink because it is supposed to make people passive. It does not now, nor did it ever in the past, have anything to do with sexism or homophobia. To me, these charges are completely projected by this johnny-come-lately assistant law prof.
Sorry you had to be exposed to this complete non-issue. Not much goes on around here.

10. Thank you for the explanation |

My son's girlfriend is from Iowa and her parents are rabid-Repubs...but I think we are getting through to her. This helps me to understand the environment from which she comes.
