ABC Poll: "Most Say God Was Not Factor in Hurricanes"
In a way this gives me hope that there are still some folks left with some sense and logic left in their heads and don't see everything bad that happens as some Divine retribution or deliberate attack. It's too bad more don't see Global Warming may be at least a factor though.

Majority of Americans Don't Blame Hurricanes on God or Global Warming

Just under a quarter in this ABC News/Washington Post poll see the hurricanes as "a deliberate act" of God; two-thirds instead see them as an occurrence on God's Earth, but not a deliberate act on God's part. (The rest have no opinion, or don't believe in God.)

Separately, 54 percent think that the severity of recent hurricanes mainly reflects "severe weather events that happen from time to time," rather than the effects of global climate change. Just under four in 10 think climate change is mainly to blame.

That's not to say most people doubt global warming; 56 percent are convinced it's under way. It's just that fewer are persuaded that it has increased hurricane severity.

...more at links:charts, etc

1. The study finds that Low Ed, Low Income, and Evangelicals correlate w.
The study finds that low education (high school or less), low income ($25 K or less) and Evangelicals are about one third likely (roughly 34, 33, 32 percent) to believe God was a factor in directing hurricanes.

Cargo Cult Republicans.

4. It took me a few moments to work this one out.
Now I see it: Jesus is a hippie, and the Republicans are symbolized by the besuited elephant who's puncturing J's brain with one of his tusks. Oh, curse this subtle symbolism!

But just because it's subtle doesn't mean it's not true.

8. If the hippies were the second coming we are in trouble.
That is just a depiction of Jesus, he did have long hair, a beard and believed in peace or so I have been told, does that make him a hippie?

... is a pretty substantial minority.

That's a pretty big change from a decade ago, when not many people (aside from scientists) knew about climate change.

6. We still have an ignorant 1/4 of the populace.
How can anyone believe that Hurricanes are a deliberate act of God?

Well, I take that back, I guess they are deliberate acts of Poseidon, sorry.
