Maybe They're Not Interested in Overturning Roe v. Wade? |
|
Let's face it. The one and only priority of the Repubs and Bush is to shovel YOUR money into the pockets of the wealthy, protect them, and hand them the keys to the U.S. kingdom before the Bush term is over. Mr. Popularity now ranks somewhere below pond scum in the opinion of Americans which is giving hissy fits to the rich and powerful since they need him all jacked up to serve their agenda. If he flung some flame bait into the American people's face right now as a SC nominee, their chances to OWN us could be greatly damaged. After all, when it comes down to it, it's only a small handful of the lunatic base that will go utterly insane if the court doesn't overrule this--the others will just move on. I, detect that with Roberts and Miers they are actually going to try to avoid Roe v. Wade (they could give a flying shit about abortion, etc. and have only used it to get votes). In fact, isn't it better to keep the loonies still voting ultra-Republican in search of the Roe-slayer instead of firing up a bunch of irate women (and liberal men) to come out swinging in the next election?? Their only purpose is to put on people who will rule in favor of the rich pillaging America..you can bet that that is exactly who Roberts and Miers are.

2. That's exactly right, they have bigger fish to fry |

Abortion has never really been on their agenda, getting corportists in the Court however is likely. They have always been about stealing our money and our resources.

as long as one has a Hateful angry 'cause', they lose 20 IQ points to adrenaline, and no one would support Bu$h unless they were stupid.

6. All they want is the mileage they can get during campaigns. |
|
In these issues, I think "What's the matter with Kansas" is an excellent text that examines the chicanery of the repugs, big on promises to the base, but they never deliver. The base wants abortion stopped, the repugs deliver tax cuts to the wealthy. The base wants prayer in schools, the repugs deliver a gutted EPA/FDA. The base is all about a religious movement, those who are elected and the appointed cronies only care about big business, personal power, and getting rich.

Even if they were handed the opportunity to appoint all 9 they would appoint at least 5 pro-choicers. They need that isssue.

9. If they can't run on Roe v Wade or gay marriage, then what? |
|
Remember, much of their base only votes for them because of "moral issues". These two cases are particularly important to them. If they were to settle these cases...their base goes down. Its as simple as that.

10. They don't care about Roe vs. Wade. If they cared about abortion |
|
then they would have all manner of birth control device and option available to kids across the country coupled with excellent sex education.
Repukes just need abortion as a wedge. Why would they "solve a wedge"?
Remember Bush recently called himself the "Problem Solving President". So we know that is an Orwellian take on the things he purposely doesn't do because it isn't on the "real" agenda.

11. They will NEVER overturn Roe v. Wade |
|
They need it to suck money out of the fundies every two years. They've been in charge of the House, Senate, SCOTUS, and the media for 11 years now, and in the WH for 5, and it's still there. Once it's overturned they'll have nothing to hold up to their potential donors as evidence that they're "fighting for life". It will NEVER be overturned.
