Reid has been scaring me lately |
|
Edited on Mon Oct-03-05 09:51 AM by jsamuel
He has been the first person to approve of Bush's cronies and has not been strong as an opposition leader.
I wonder...
I am thanking God that Pelosi is head right now. Since she has taken over, Dean's message has been getting through.
Any thoughts?

1. I'm concerned about Reid's health |
|
IIRC, he has had two minor strokes in recent months. May have taken some of the fight out of him.

2. Seems like Reid really hates being painted as an obstructionist |
|
and that is the source of some of his decisions.
Dammit, sometimes you just have to obstruct.

It is like he gives before the fight even starts.

9. Actually it is. He emphasized that Roberts was eminently qualified-- |
|
as in meets his minimum standards for a SCOTUS, but kept his concerns over Roberts' agenda to himself.
It was rope-a-dope, just as in his boxing days.
Spared him the criticism from the rw, but made sure the base knew his real opinion. It was a very shrewd move.

11. But in "spar[ing] him[self] the criticism" he limited how far opposition |

could go.
In the spirit of Roberts' testimony: He spotted the other team a few runs.

5. Normally, I would give a benefit of the doubt |
|
AND we would be hearing of plans, reasons, and long term strategies.
But no. Reid is more concerned with presenting a happy smiling people face and not make waves. True, the floodwaters are lapping at sides of the House of Bush and the slightest well placed wave would be enough to breach its walls.
When the GOP started its 9 year attack on Bill CLinton, they did so with malice aforethought, and with no regard to the damage done to an active, sitting president who had other things on his mind, like Euro, terror, China, African Hutu and Tutsi massacres, and more. He managed to survive, despite that concerted attack.
The Democratic leadership has done none of that. But, we now face the destruction of our way of life BECAUSE of the idiots in power. Now is the time to stand up and make some waves. For our own protection. For the future of our country.

6. Reid's been a sellout from the beginning |
|
Edited on Mon Oct-03-05 09:56 AM by depakid
The man was NEVER fit to be majority leader- and I hate to say it, but I've been telling everyone this since January- and he's pretty well proven the point- time after time.
And he's fixing to do it again- you just watch.

10. I wouldn't be so quick to judge him on that one. He knew most likely |
|
B's base would hate her nomination and it would create a nice rift. Suggesting her does not mean he will vote for her -- it may have been, on the contrary, a very shrewd move since it's a terrible choice all around :)

12. Reid has been sick and I |
|
think maybe he needs to put someone in his place till he is feeling better. He is not strong like before, he is weak and that is not his fault, his health is not good. We need a fighter, someone who can get the party behind him and lead the charge...

13. Reid is okay - give him a break |
|
You can't do much with 45 senators. Add the DINOs and the pukes have a filibuster proof majority. If you think Reid is bad, just think of Dashle... And Dashle had 49 senators.
There is not that much you can do with 45 senators (half a dozen DINOs included)...
I am sure we'll see a much more aggressive Reid after dems pick up seats in the midterms.
