1. it's not a good logic
but it has precedence. Many Justices have never been judges.

4. And the same logic that put a guy who's run every business he ever had
into the ground, into the Oval Office.

7. But don't forget, Bush nominated him for his courage. Dubya,
after all, is terrified of horses.

3. that issue is a non starter
There have been many SC justices who had no judicial experience. There is another post on DU that lists about ten of them.

One of them was a fellow you may have heard of named Earl Warren.

5. The issue is: is she qualified and does she have enough experience.
Edited on Mon Oct-03-05 11:02 AM by CottonBear
Other non-judge SCOTUS nominees served as District Attorneys and as Governors prior to being nominated to SCOTUS. I simply do not think that she is qualified.

She was involved in the GTECH/Barnes/TANG * coverup/no-bid contract scandal and she was recently involved in keeping important Robert's memos from the senators.

8. This is a weak argument, in my view
The History of the Supreme Court is full of justices who were never judges.

Frankly, I think we are long overdue for a nominee who was not a judge.

Of course, that does not mean this woman should be that person.
