Bill O'Reilly vs Wesley Clark (VIDEO) |
|
Edited on Mon Oct-03-05 09:24 PM by tuvor
The two battled over the court ruling allowing the new torture pictures to be seen. http://www.crooksandliars.com/2005/10/03.html#a5214(Billibuster O'Reilly. What a feces-head.)

stand up to a guy like Clark and tell Clark how the military works. What an unmitigated a$$ Bill is!!
And he says that not following the Geneva Conventions increasing attacks on our troops is a "theory". Isn't "releasing the photos" and increasing attacks on the troops a theory.
Man, I can't believe how that guy interrupts everyone he interviews. I don't watch Cable, but have seen two recent vids (this one and the Phil O'Donohue interview) that just made me wonder who this jerk thinks he is??

I don't have cable and after watching this clip ... o'really wouldn't let Clark ever finish a sentence without interrupting. It was the absolute worst "interview" I have ever witnessed. He wouldn't make my hometown's high school news program as an anchor.
B.O. must have kissed alot of ass to get a nationally aired program.

Clark did a wonderful job of stopping O'Reilly from framing the argument. People should study how he handled O'Reilly. Clark is a soft spoken man, but he managed to shut O'Reilly up using body language, by sticking to his point, and by having a good background on the subject.

O'Reilly is a true dickhead, and General Wesley Clark kicked his ass all OVER the place...
Hey, O'Lielly, the guys over there that you feign care for are ALREADY IN DANGER regardless of the pictures...The people that had this done to them already know!!
As a side note, the General's style has vastly improved, and as another poster already noted, this will indeed stand him in good stead for the debates....
The morans at Faux Spews have yet to realize what a huge favour they have done. The good General gets invaluable exposure to the retards that watch this show, and the General gets invaluable experience debating the type of knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathers that will invariably start to attack him once he announces his run.
It is SO much fun watching O'Lielly getting the beat-down though...

16. The argument to suppress information to protect troops is weak |
|
Information should never be suppressed, as it is a scary slippery slope. Lets say you forbid these pictures to be shown because, as O Reilly says troops would get killed if they were shown. What if we accidently drop bombs on bunch of schools in Iraq, should we suppress knowledge of that too? What if a bunch of soldiers raped a bunch of girls, should no one ever find out because it would increase hatred and America, and therefore put our troops in harms way? Where do you draw the line?
Secondly, this administration has given the world plenty of reasons to hate us. More pictures aren't going to change anyone's opinion.
I think Clark did well. I hope he continues to stay out there.

|
It is the deeds that are depicted that are harming our troops not the pictures showing those deeds. Wasn't O'Rielly saying awhile back that the "torture was no worse than college initiations? How could showing college initiations harm our troops? O'Rielly is just soo wrong in soo many ways....

|
I'm sure someone with more historical knowledge than I will point out that Malmedy which Bill O'Reilly claimed was an atrocity committed by the 82nd Airborne was in fact committed against another division by another army. It was in fact committed against the US by a SS unit. So, to further his argument O'Reilly supports the Nazi slaughter of Americans? Please correct me if I'm wrong on this case.

31. I heard this same argument on Air America last night - not wanting to |
|
put "our guys in the field" (according to O'Reilly) in danger, and couldn't disagree more. My take on it is that if our men and women are put in danger, the fault lies with the criminals who tortured, raped, and killed in total disregard for the Geneva Conventions.
I certainly don't want to have our men and women in the armed services face a greater danger, but talk about peer pressure - any rage, any anger, any fault should be directed NOT at those who want to make these atrocities totally public, but at those who knowingly and willingly participated in them in the first place. THEY put "our guys in the field" in danger and THEY ought to think about that the next time they decide to play Tough Guy GI Joe.

|
.....elsewhere in the world through the internet. The US is the only place they have been censored.....until now. So the damage has already been done to the men and women in uniform.
Saying it will hurt the soldiers in the field is simply a smoke screen to stop AMERICANS from seeing these atrocities and hurting the GOP in the upcoming elections.

I live in a blue state and I can't tell you how often Fox is watched. It plays on the tv's at my gym,at the deli, at break room of my husband's work. Not everyone who watches is a crazy republican, some people just watch what's on. At least now someone is speaking the truth to them.

If Joe and Jane Public see Wes on every few days saying things that make sense (and he always makes sense), we might get a few of them to see the truth instead of what Faux likes to heap onto them. It might cause them to question the false reality Faux drums up...
I think it's a bold move on Clark's part.

34. I caught this while channel surfing. I will never understand why OReilly |
|
thought it was a good idea to get into a debate with Wes Clark because Wes Clark ran circles around him. Also, a 4 star general certainly has more credibility when discussing military matters than OReilly can ever hope to have.
OReilly is a loudmouth who interrupts and shouts over his guests in order to make his point...I notice that's a tactic used by a lot of these RW talking heads. That tactic drives me nuts.

O'Reilly is just like a child who has to get in the last word with his mom because that means he's "won." Right at the end of that clip, after Clark said, "I certainly don't want to put them in danger either" that moran squeezed in, "Hellerstein is wrong" right before commercial.
Oh ... oh, okay Bill. You said it last - so that means you're right.
