Song written & performed by Symbolman "Secret Agent Plame" for Fitz!
It's the song I wrote and performed to honor Valerie Plame and for the credits of my film "Rove's War" that many here have been waiting for me to finish and ship.. (I was ill for about a month, really bad, better now tho)

Well, the film is done for those of you at the DU that have been so patient so I'll be sending your copies out in the next two days, meanwhile you can listen to the music I wrote for the credits (actually I wrote all the music in the film and performed that too, but it's a lot more low key)..

and I want to thank each of you for your patience, I apologise profusely but besides being very ill, I wanted to be sure and do a good job, so you'll probably be pleased with the two DVD set, 150+ minutes of hearings, (Downing Street Minutes with Conyers), graphics, hilarious right wing hypocrisy and a Chronology of the Plame outing from the beginning up to this point, that you'll be getting in the mail.

You can hear "Secret Agent Plame" at http://www.takebackthemedia.com

Hope you enjoy, if you do, kick this thread and let me know :) and pass it around if your would, I want Fitz and Wilson, maybe Rove and Libby to hear this one!

Thanks again for your patience,

Symbolman

4. It's a satirical version
isn't that covered under fair use? No one is going to confuse it with the original, thanks for the advice, I've heard of Harry Fox..

5. If the tune is the same you should get permission.
Unless the Publisher gets wind of this you will probly not get sued though. ;0)

16. possibly not covered
It's spot on as far as the melody goes. Very similar in the arrangement also. It's the whole song instead of a portion and you are not making fun of the song (that's a tough call) but rather something else using the song, which may leave parody out.

Do a google and/or wikipedia search on parody, satire, and copyright.

If it were me, I would look into licensing or change the melody and arrangement enough to get away with it.

I am not a lawyer and this is not intended to be legal advice.

Otherwise, it sounds cool. :-)

you Sounded like a lawyer, the little hairs on the back of my neck stood up, and all I wanted to do was have a little fun Judge, wasn't hurtin' no body --

Let's call it a "Satirody", yeah, yeah, maybe that'll work :)

but for the last month I was able to spent each night all night working on this film, and the music..

thanks for thinking of me, hope you enjoy the music, there's a Ripping guitar lead on it :)

Here are the lyrics:

SECRET AGENT PLAME

There's a gal who led a life of danger
Everyone she met she stayed a stranger
With every move she makes, another story breaks
Odds are her old pals won't see tomorrow
Secret agent Plame, secret agent Plame,
Rove took away your number and gave away your name
Beware of yellow cake that you can't find, gal
The news'll drag your name right through a minefield
Not caring what they'd say
The White House gave you away
Odds are Bush's pals will get a medal,
Secret agent Plame, secret agent Plame
Rove took away your number and gave away your name

lead guitar

Secret agent Plame, secret agent Plame
Rove took away your number and gave away your name
Spying on the Saudi Arabs one day
Being in the paper's Headlines on next day
Oh Karl - let the wrong word slip
And Novak had loose lips
Traitors in the White House can't be fired,
Secret agent Plame, secret agent Plame
Rove took away your number and gave away your name
Secret agent Plame

19. I like it!
I was being a secret agent in that I listened to this at work once all the guys left on their pest control routes! :D

The tune is the same, but the tempo is different and that guitar solo is AWESOME! Very different than Johnny Rivers but very good! Hope you can get away with using it!

21. Pest Control?
Is that "Rock'n Roll Pest Control"? :) (actually that's a REAL song played in Seattle during the grunge days by a band called, "The Fresh Young Fellows") always loved that tune..

for god's sakes don't ever watch "Naked Lunch" if you do pest control, as a matter of fact Never watch that film - it's waaaaay too wierd, but it starts off about Pest Control..

Yeah, that lead is my Brother from another Mother - he's got a back injury so he can't tour but he's one of the best guitarists I've known in 30+ years of playing guitar and being in bands.. he's great..

glad you could sneak some music in at work :)

15. I'd love to hear your song.
Can't get it to play through. It opens, but all I'm getting is about a 3 second lead-in, then it stops. Repeatedly. The little spinner in the top right of the window isn't spinning which would indicate it's still loading. I even went to refill my coffee cup, then tried again. Still no go.

 'standing all alone in a room screaming at a thing on a stick'

Do you hate kebabs for their freedoms? Is it the peppers that have you so upset? Isn't it better that we fight the onions over there than here? Think of the pineapple. What will we tell the pineapple? ;)

Seriously, would love to hear your song. Help?

17. Disregard previous message.
Backed up to the lead-in page, clicked on the song again and it loaded and played.

Great job! Very well done.

Sorry to hear you've been sick, glad you're feeling better. Thanks for sharing your song.

It's much more than 'standing in a room screaming at a thing on a stick', it's wonderful.

30. No, it's a pc and running Firefox (if that makes a difference).
Don't know what the hold-up was initially. Wonder if it had anything to do with all of us jumping in at once?

Whatever it was ironed itself out, and it played beautifully.

thanks again,

A little background on "Secret Agent Man" Johnny Rivers and his drug running CIA pal Barry Seal....

"The shocking true story of American 'super-spy' Barry Seal--the inspiration for the 1966 hit "Secret Agent Man" written by his long-time friend Johnny Rivers-- is the story of what happens when guys we pay to protect us--CIA guys--go into business with guys we're paying them to protect us against."

25. Man
THAT is completely Wild, never heard about that, very cool..

This DVD set is BETTER than the DSM Hearing (apples and oranges I know), much much more detail, tons of information and chronological goodies on Plame.. tho, I do cherish that special Hearing, parts of it are in this "Rove's War" - the Plame case and Downing Street Minutes are glued at the hip, one proves the other, no escaping the logic when you see it..

thanks you guys/gals and for the crazy info on Johny Rivers :)

26. Love the neo-60s vibe to the whole song.
Very psychedelic in its own way.

"rove took away your number and gave away your name".... beautiful... your inflection makes it all the more so.

My one little gripe is that I couldn't make out all the lyrics and i really wanted to! lol.

Thanks for all your incredible work Symbolman. You're a real renaissance man.

lol, thanks - all my music has that kind of feel to it (I've got like 50 or 60 songs I've written), and some day when all this political crap goes away I'm going to start playing rock star instead - tho now would be the perfect time, it seems like all the kids in high schools are listening to Beatlesque style music and wearing 70's stuff..

What a bitch it would be to find out I could have gotten rich instead of trying to make DVDs and hawk them on the web for food and gas :)

well, and to oust that insane idiot murdering everyone, next he'll be strangling birdies on TV to show us he has everything under control and we should like him a lot..

thanks, I have to show your post to my wife, "See Honey? See, frictionless0 said I had a groove thing going.. can I make a record now? Called what? CDs? Oh... so no more albums then, huh?"

But I didn't find out about their politics until after I bought my computer...x(

42. I had that set up TOO
I was AMAZED at the sound quality, it was incredible - now you have to go into the guts of the computer and make it STOP play some 4th party 3D speaker sound - which cuts out the VOICES or whatever..

my stupid laptop was useless for sound until I kept hunting and trying every combination and TURNED OFF some super cool groovy effect that literally as I said before cut out the Singers..

Thought my ears were going south, then I tried the same CD on my wife's Mac, which sounds great for a laptop, and lo and behold, no problem, all the nuances were there like I remembered..

can't get much out of quarter inch speaker anyway I guess :)
