Accused Student Hacker Faces 89 Charges
The Laguna High School graduate who was accused of breaking into the school's computer to improve his grades has been arraigned on 89 related felonies.
Alexander Ochoa, who is now 18 but was a juvenile when the alleged crimes occurred, appeared in Sacramento Juvenile Court today. He was formally charged with three counts of commercial burglary and 86 counts of gaining unauthorized access to the school computer.
When school officials investigated Ochoa earlier this year, they accused the then-senior of changing his grades and those of other students. Officials believed Ochoa learned a teacher's password, which allowed him to gain access to school computers. Investigators also allege that Ochoa had a key that he used three times to enter school offices.
