This administration has done nothing to merit any sympathy. They've thrown an already fragile world into unbelievable chaos, alienated nations that have been allies forever, busted the budget, attacked civil liberties, poisoned the earth, lied us into a war, paid reporters to "stretch" the truth, discredited dissenters ... and been completely arrogant, unapologetic and unwilling to admit wrong the whole time. Sorry if we don't weep over their demise.

if there is a slight inconvenience to B*shit along the way, well, sympathy will be elicited and his poll numbers will go up. He's still getting everything he wants.

Everything is at risk, so don't let our guard down, but it is wrong to say that "everything that matters is still going their way".
Iraq is a mess. No flowers.
Osama Bin Laden is not captured.
Bush's Social Security Reforms are dead.
Miers might get withdrawn or voted down.
They aren't drilling Anwar (so far).
The Estate tax repeal may not be introduced.
The economy is not doing so well, teetering, consumer confidence way down, interest rates climbing.
Deficits are huge, Bush is in hot water with conservatives for spending out of control.
Korea is fizzing. Iran is fulminating.
China is launching astronauts and holding more and more US debt.
There is more.

Who cares if the people are grumbling? The press is still in their pocket, the elections rigged, the war is making them billions. They will get out of any legal problems by hook or crook. Life is good.

Right now I just feel such anger at the waste....of the lives.....of the money....our economy....the years and years that it's going to take to pay for these past five.....so much damage....so much pain....the soldier's families...the Katrina victims..and on and on....and it's not over yet, not by a long shot. There's will be a lot more innocent victims before even one of these criminals is forced to resign from his cushy job.

These guys don't intend to go anywhere.
They tried the terra thing again, it didn't work. So they'll just try MORE next time. But these people don't walk away from anything. Don't write them off yet.
Martial law may be a bullshit fake response to a bullshit fake attack, but it will still be martial law, and at that point only the troops turning on him will get Bush out.
I'm not willing to accept this as anything but a serious speed bump for them at this point. With a good strong plow, you can scrape a speed bump right off the pavement.

I have no feeling of satisfaction because the country lay in ruins and it's going to take a generation or more to get back to a semblance of the right track.
Secondly, Bush is still sitting in the Oval Office. And even if by some miracle he were removed tomorrow, THEY would still be there. THEY'd still have all three branches of government. The corporate media and FOX and its fellow cable wannabees will still be there. The lock-step fundies will still be there. Limbaugh, Scaife, the Federalist Society, John Roberts, AIPAC, the oil companies, Regency Publishing, David Brooks, O'Reilly, the PNAC crowd, the haters, the homophobes, and 99% of the wingnuts will still be there.
I wouldn't express any satisfaction yet. I might begin to feel some satisfaction if the Democrats regained decisive majorities in the House and the Senate in the midterm elections and then routed the GOP for the White House in 2008.
But THEY are not out yet, not by a long shot. They're just having some rough sailing right now.
