Is there a legal requirement for SCOTUS justices to Recuse themselves?
Why does anyone think if there is a CHOICE in the matter of Recusal, that Miers would acquiesce to pressure, even from the other justices? 2000 proved that BushCo is quite capable of using SCOTUS as it sees fit.

What we have in this administration is Cheney's Private Intelligence and BushCo's Private Law.

It is very hard to believe that all of the so-called Patriots in this Country are happy about this Royal Regime. If they are, It can only be because they don't really know a darn thing about FREEDOM.

1. No.
Supreme Court Justices are autonomous. Other Justices can 'advise' but the only check on their behavior is impeachment.

2. And Impeachment is the only response they can offer if they disagreed
with another Judge's decision re recusal?

3. Scalia didn't recuse himself in a recent case where he had a personal ...
... relationship and there wasn't anything anyone could do. Each Justice decides such things for themselves, no matter what 'advice' they get. The only check and balance on their behavior is impeachment, no matter whether that behavior is murder or failure to recuse themselves.

4. Like everything in the legal sector, everything is left up to them.
And they will not police themselves. With his crony appointments, Bush is reflecting practices that are common at the local and state level. This is why the status quo never changes. This is why minorities never get a fair day in court.

They are so shameless. Look at Scalia how he didn't recuse himself after duck hunting with Cheney. They are so intertwined that fighting them is futile in the courts once they've stacked the bench.

5. Yes, I've heard of their pogroms against Grassroots' Judges here in K.C.

actions or relationships put them in a position that even has the appearance of favoritism-if the public might logically think there was collusion. The problem is that they, themselves, are the only judge of their behavior. The position of scotus was designed to go to those whose intellectual honesty was beyond question. The rapepublicans do not want judges who refuse to legislate from the bench, they want judges who legislate their way.
