My first thread... investigating Freeperland |
|
So, I'm new here, and thought, "hey, I'd like to post something." Been reading a lot about freepers here, so decided to go check out their site. Not terribly newsworthy what I found, but just had to share... One of the members posted a little praise about the founder/creator of freeperland, saying the following:
"Every Day FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word..."
Learn a new word?!?! Oh, man, I'm switchin blogs right now! Why ain't y'all teechin' me sum new werds?!?!

7. Freepers have vocabulary problems... |
|
in part because they have to re-learn the meaning of so many words. Like 'reform', for example.
Welcome to DU!

General yahoo and google techniques will tell you a lot. I think Freeperland is the brainchild of your basic Fresno, California, Central Valley Right Wing Crazy. Probably had a date once, but spends 20 hours a day now stroking his keyboard.
Also -- Vocabulary for the DU blogger:

This photo was taken in the days preceding the Iraq invasion in 2003. I think it was one of those ClearChannel pro-war rallies?

(and bought one of the two) in t-Shirt form.
Jefferson wrote that one in a letter iirc around 1798... and it had a little to do with the Alien and Sedition Act.
read my response above, I gave Ben's version too

16. You want new words, go over to E&E. |
|
Try promatorium: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=115x32404Lots of words in that group. Some wielded well, some by those who barely understand them. But most educational just the same.
