Scott Simon this past Sat. |
|
He had some person on involved with a company "Truth in Accuracy", something like that. They discussed why the media won't correct politicians untruth's, or inaccuracies. They example they decided to use was a speech given by J. Kerry in the 04 election , where he stated that bush* presided over the worst economy since H. Hoover. The expert called that a whopper. I can't imagine any other economies worst then the one bush* presided over, but could'nt they mention some of bush's lies that were never corrected? Such as lying about WMD's that has taken the lives of 1962 of our young men and 100,000 Iraqi women and children.

1. The transformation at NPR is complete. |
|
It's now officially right-wing, thanks to the CPB and the Congress.

3. I know it's a common theme here but being common does not make it |

accurate or fair to either NPR or Simon. They are actually fighting pretty hard and blanket pronouncements like this do not do them justice. For many of us NPR remains a viable source of news, and we need to fight with them and for them rather engage in this...

We should be elevating the level of public discourse, not crying "right wing propoganda" at every corner. I swear, this place is no better than freerepublic when it gets like this.

9. Welcome to DU! It's actually a great place to be |
|
One just needs to be choosier sometimes about the forums... This advice pertains to me as well -- so I am taking it right now!

I don't take kindly to being compared to freepers.
Here's your big chance.

2. I hear that piece and when the guest mentioned factcheck.org I just |
|
knew it was a right wing propaganda piece. Why does npr let this stuff slip by them?

7. NPR doesn't "let it slip by". NPR injects it. |
|
It's no accident that they will run (for example) two or three voice snippets from their Reich Wing spokesmen (e.g., the Family Research Council and Focus on the Family) and then *TELL YOU* what the left's position "is".
Pay attention to this; they do it often. The right-wing quotes "book-end" the piece while the left never gets a direct quote.
Pay attention to their sources. They use the Cato Institute, the Heritage Foundation, heck, they even use the Project for a New American Century!

10. They were meticulous in their reports about the anti-war demonstration |
|
in Washington to dutifully report the "counter demonstrations", as if one actually existed, just to be "fair".

4. Simon is pro Iraq war. Always does sympathetic pieces |
|
about "solders and loved ones" and school rebuilding. He is part of the "Iraq war is good for Israel security" bunch.

5. Actually, if you research it well, you will find out |
|
he is not pro-Iraq war; and sympathy for the soldiers should not be confused with a pro-war stand. And if you suspect that he is a part of the neo-con "good-for-Israel" crowd because he is a Jew, that's unfair not just to him but to lots of us.

8. I have listened to the guy for years about that stuff |
|
And I don't know anything about him being a Jew or not, I don't care. All the sloppy tear jerking bullshit reports from and about Iraq were enough for me, particularly after our grand and victorious invasion. He has made the Israel / "middle east security" / Iraq connection consistently from the beginning, and continues to whenever the occasion arises.

11. What, do you work for them or something? |
|
Do you have anything to back up this claim?
NPR has turned right, period.
How do you know how Scott Simon stands on the Iraq war? Do you know him?
