My problem with Judy Woodruff - Debate commentary
What I find striking about tonight's debate is that Judy Woodruff and the panelists are striking out at the Dems...

Her pointed questions about how they would handle Iraq.
That fellow who asked the stupid question about why Americans are supposedly abandoning the Demmocratic Party (big joke) Did he cite who did that poll? Sharpton did fire back about that...but a more direct hit would have been to tell Woodruff to her face that the Dems are on message but that the MEDIA doesn't want to publicize it because it would expose the REPUKES for the FASCIST PIGS THEY ARE..

My question is WHERE THE HELL WAS THE MEDIA DURING THE 2000 CAMPAIGN!
How the hell can Woodruff point out inconsistencies with the Democrats when the MEDIA DIDN'T DO A FUCKING THING TO ANALYZE THE JACKASS WHO STOLE THE 2000 ELECTION.

That MORON IN THE WHITEHOUSE DOESN'T GET ANY HEAT ...The ECONOMY IS SINKING, WE ARE INVOLVED IN A QUAGMIRE IN IRAQ...GRRRR!

Aside from my problem with this media driven debate and my gut feeling that something is awry...I have to say the following

I could vote for any one of them if they win the primary because all of them appear capable and concerned about average americans.

I also think its time to squabbling about who voted for or against Iraq... its water under the bridge and I do realize it counts for many voters but that said... I think the Dem message has to be about exit strategy. (Note: I was vehemently against war, marched in protests, wrote and called my reps/senators.... but in retrospect I realize that we would have lost more seats in the House and Senate if the Dems had overwhelmingly voted against the war...look at what happened in GA.)

I like Sharpton's down to earth witty comments.

The only negative vibe I have is with Lieberman... but that said...

OUR ENEMY IS BUSH.... BUSH IS THE ENEMY...IF WE WANT TO HAVE A PROGRESSIVE AND BRIGHT FUTURE WE MUST RID OURSELVES OF THE CORPORATE CONTROLLED WHORE HOUSE AT 1600 PENNSYLVANIA AVE.

1. this debate was framed ENTIRELY from Rove's point of view
and it pissed me off.. it was as if all they were trying to do with this was to give Rove ammo for 2004...

with the fax was BULLSHIT. During the debates ALL the campaigns are faxing corrections, rebuttals, and denials in the press room. They have done so for years. Woodruff choosing to READ one DURING the debate was BULLSHIT and no doubt planned beforehand to cause a ruckus.

Unfortunately, those unfamiliar with the backroom press areas will attribute it to Kerry, when CNN could have chosen ANY of the candidates' rebuttals to pull that stunt.

31. Woodruff ... just plain awful
talk about having an agenda ...

she even stated at the outset that she wanted the candidates to differentiate themselves, not from bush, but from each other ...

every time someone started talking about bush's failures, she interrupted them ... she wanted the candidates to pick on each other rather than bush ... it was a debate among democrats ... the press should not get to define the agenda !!!

i also noticed that each time a candidate was trying to draw a conclusion and wrap-up their statement with a little polish, she talked over their closing lines ... it significantly detracted from the quality of the oratory which i thought was war more eloquent in the previous debate ...

and this crap about people leaving the democratic party ... give me a break ... first of all, and the candidates failed to really make this point, more people voted for the democratic ticket in 2000 than the current moron in the white house ... i also believe there's been a trend to more and more voters declaring themselves as independents ... this doesn't mean they don't substantially align themselves with the democratic party ...

woodruff was a media whore and her colleagues were no better ...

"...i also noticed that each time a candidate was trying to draw a conclusion and wrap-up their statement with a little polish, she talked over their closing lines"...

I remember thinking "Geeeze, what a b*tch" everytime she chastised or otherwise shut a candidate up......imho, this was no debate, it was a set up by rove & co.

38. See, that made even sensible me think
that Kerry's staff wasn't reigned in, that they somehow pulled some strings to make sure it got into Judy's three-toed hand.

Interesting!

3. as much as I wanted to listen 'n watch 2nites
debate, I finally turned it off after the woman from the audience asked how they would repair America's reputation abroad 'n woodruff says - 'now we all know you all disagree w/ *, so we don't need 2 hear that again'. I didn't tune in 2 hear her wise ass remarks or candiate baiting. She was especially good @ getting them 2 slam each other.
She needed 2 check her ego @ the door - this was not about her! Every debate I have seen has been a joke - I did not C the PBS debate. The 1st one w/ george step****opolus was just god-awful and there has been no improvement - don't the candidates have any say w/ the way these R structured?

6. Judy proved what a whore she is
I mean really, could she have been any more biased? Hell, she attacks the candidates and then admonishes them not to spend their time being critical of pResident Bring'emon! WTF! And she really didn't like the crowd applauding the answers, she actually tried to shush them at one point! What a fucking whore, she should never be allowed to do another dem debate. And that damn strutting around the stage was just awful. The entire format was just fucking maddening!!

8. CROWLEY
I turned it on and off, seeing Candy CROWLEY saying, "Let me try the same question again with Senator KERRY"--- the same dirty trick the dude at the Faux debate did, which he said he didn't mean "that" way, but days later said he shouldn't have done it.

But I got in time to see Judy use the “lets you and him fight” card with Dean, bring up what Kerry had said and asking him to respond.

I wonder in what journalism school they teach that?

18. I got the same feeling--the instead of asking questions that would
enable people to see various positions of the candidates, she went after every single one (practically) with the purpose of undermining them and pitting them against each other.

She was confrontationall and snotty....at least Clark talked over her!!

19. You know what I find very curious?
I'm reading "Fortunate Son" by J.H. Hatfield...about Bush. Bush was in a Restaurant, drunk and Judy Woodruff, her husband, Al Hunt and their 4 year old son were eating dinner. Bush staggered up to their table and said to Al "You fucking son of a bi*ch! We saw what you wrote. We're not going to forget this." I guess The Washingtonian magazine had just been published and featured 16 pundits who predicted Jack Kemp would be the 1988 GOP nominee instead of Vice President Bush.

I would think, after that, Judy Woodruff would be going for Bush's juggler and throwing some softball questions to our Dems. Instead, she's intimidated and toeing the line. She was one of Arnold's greatest supporters too. I don't get it. :(

25. yes
As I noted in the other thread and in my letter to CNN, the whole event was based on the false premise that Democrats have lost the minds and hearts of Americans. This is straight from the RNC playbook of the week, where Democrats are only angry and Americans want happy talk. Woodruff, Crowley and Greenfield spent the evening trying to force the candidates to defend against a negative.

29. just goes to show you
How out of whack the political balance is in DC.
I would hope that most of the press at least tries
to skate around and find a safe middle ground, but
with such an imbalance between the real world and
Washington right now, it's no surprise that the press
are looking like whorish shills.
We need to push far to the left, just to get back
on center.

Really got in a snit when he snidely dropped Edward's net worth.

The end of the whole tawdry affair was put to rest by Al Sharpton...who finessed Greenfield (the sob) with class.

36. His attack was pointless
Can't figure out just how he thought he was exposing some fatal flaw in Edwards. His question/remarks was/were so profoundly stupid. He announced Franklin Roosevelt and Kennedy were wealthy, and Richard Nixon was "a man of the people." What sense did THAT make? :silly:

It told a lot about Greenfeld. What a desperate, venomous loser.
