1. Why weren't shrub and darth cheney under oath?
Is there some reason they were allowed to testify without being under oath?

2. Bush and Cheney both had to swear allegiance when
they were inaugurated. It seems to me that would suffice to cover any questioning.

4. ANSWER: Yes, he can be indicted. ?He just can't be indicted for perjury
Lying to a federal officer is still a crime. And conspiracy, obstruction, espionage, or treason don't require any testimony from the offending individual to garner an indictment.

6. No CON-di ? No Bolton? No Jeff Gannon? I still think Gannon
is complicit somehow...

My conclusion: Gannon was planted by the WH (Rove) in April 2003 as questions surrounding the invasion of Iraq and the intelligence used were starting to be raised by the real reporters on the beat and to assist the neo-con cause as necessary in promoting the Bush agenda. He became useful early on during the Plame leak.

8. Ding, ding, ding, ding - you got it, Laura
Jeff Gannon does seems a likely candidate for this investigation.

And while we are asking questions, why did Harriet Miers approve the male prostitute Gannon for a Bush White House "press" pass that allowed him access to the White House almost 200 times (according to the official Secret Service records)?

America deserves all the answers to all the questions.

9. What's the source for Miers approving Ganon's WH press pass?
Please cite. If so, she likely knows the underside of that slimy rock too, and the Senators can ask her about it during her confirmation hearing.

This just gets better and better,

Brief WH Bomb Scare

"Forgive us if every time we hear about "suspicious packages" at the White House, we think of Jeff Gannon, but it turns out the WH was locked down briefly this morning; someone "slipped the package under the fence." Ahem.

"And speaking of suspicious packages: We hear that Harriet Miers was once in charge of renewing press passes..."

There's more out there.

OP/ED: Was Gannon Called to Testify in Plame Investigation?
by Rob in Baltimore - 2/17/2005 12:43:00 AM

Phoenix Woman alerted us to this March 7, 2004 thread from Free Republic. The thread is about, ironically, journalistic standards. (I kid you not.) Here's what "Jeff" had to say:
To: kristinn
Well, as many of you now know, I have been subpeonaed by the Federal grand jury for testimony in the CIA leak probe.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1092073/posts

Somehow, Talon News (an internet based news service) is credible enough to be interrogated. (RKA NOTE: Emphasis mine)

Five Washington Post reporters have also been called, along with Andrea Mitchell and Tim Russert and others.

Huh, interesting. Jeff tells Free Republic that he was "subpeonaed" by the Grand Jury. Well, that's not what he told Editor and Publisher Magazine on February 11, 2005:

Plame Leaked by Fake News Source? Part VI
by SusanG
Mon Jan 31, 2005 at 06:31:26 AM PDT
Overview

White House-credentialed fake news reporter "Jeff Gannon" from fake news agency "Talon News" was cited by the Washington Post as having the only access to an internal CIA memo that named Joseph Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame, as a covert CIA agent. Gannon, in a question posed to Wilson in an October 2003 interview, referred to the memo (to which no other news outlet had access, according to the Post). Gannon subsequently has been subpoenaed by the federal grand jury looking into the Plame outing.

15. More on Gannon and Plamegate....
http://www.thismodernworld.com/weblog/mtarchives/week_2005_10_09.html#002491

Tom Tomorrow:
Gannon redux
Conason speculates that Guckert/Gannon may face charges in Plamegate:

The New York Times reported Friday that in addition to possible charges directly involving the revelation of Valerie Wilson's identity and related perjury or conspiracy charges, Fitzgerald is exploring other possible crimes. Specifically, according to the Times, the special counsel is seeking to determine whether anyone transmitted classified material or information to persons who were not cleared to receive it -- which could be a felony under the 1917 Espionage Act.
One such classified item might be the still-classified State Department document, written by an official of State's Bureau of Intelligence and Research, concerning the CIA's decision to send former ambassador Joseph Wilson to look into allegations that Iraq had tried to purchase uranium from Niger. Someone leaked that INR document -- which inaccurately indicated that Wilson's assignment was the result of lobbying within CIA by his wife, Valerie -- to right-wing media outlets, notably including Gannon's former employers at Talon News. On Oct. 28, 2003, Gannon posted an interview with Joseph Wilson on the Talon Web site, in which he posed the following question: "An internal government memo prepared by U.S. intelligence personnel details a meeting in early 2002 where your wife, a member of the agency for clandestine service working on Iraqi weapons issues, suggested that you could be sent to investigate the reports. Do you dispute that?"

Gannon later hinted, rather coyly, that he had learned about the INR memo from an article in the Wall Street Journal. He also told reporters last February that FBI agents working for Fitzgerald had questioned him about where he got the memo. At the very least, that can be interpreted as confirming today's Times report about the direction of the case.

Press Passes!?
True story. A friend just informed me that when he contacted the White House last year to renew his press pass, his contact was Harriet Miers. Press passes?! That doesn't exactly put her very high up on the totem pole now does it? I don't suppose she had anything to do with Jeff Gannon . . .

PRESS PASSES. Lord, have mercy.

Nobody commented! Allow me. I recall reading that the person who authorized Gannon's initial press pass issuance was a lowly staffer in the WH Press office. It may have been that after the Gannon embroglio, that job got kicked upstairs to the WH counsel's office. Anyone know otherwise?

7. Notice: No Bolton - Was he the original target?
Targets of GJs generally are not called. It's been widely reported that the Walrus had the earlier version of the State Department memo about Plame and Wilson that passed around in early July on board AF1.

Anyone know if it's been confirmed that Judy met with Bolton before her June 23 meeting with Scooter to talk about "Valerie Flame"?

If so, then Bolton may well have originally violated the Intelligence Identities Protection Act (IIPA) by sharing the State Dept. memo with Judy. All that followed with the others was conspiracy, perjury and obtsruction of justice.

13. Don't know, but remember Bolton visited Judy in jail....
Do you know if there are "super-secret" witnesses to the gj ? Or is who testified under freedom of information? Condi said the other day that she had "cooperated".

You may be right on Bolton. There's no one the slim bag wouldn't have been in the middle. And remember Hannah was on loan to Cheney from Bolton's office.

17. What is that thing called the "Oath of Office"?
It should seem that anytime either the President of Vice President speak to the American people, that their Oath should be intact, considering that ordinary citizens don't have to be sworn in.
