Daily News: White House Aides Leaking False Information To Protect Bush...
That is the Headline on Huffington Post for this story:

"Bush whacked
Rove on CIA leak

-snip-
A second well-placed source said some recently published reports implying Rove had deceived Bush about his involvement in the Wilson counterattack were incorrect and were leaked by White House aides trying to protect the President.

"Bush did not feel misled so much by Karl and others as believing that they handled it in a ham-handed and bush-league way," the source said.

None of these sources offered additional specifics of what Bush and Rove discussed in conversations beginning shortly after the Justice Department informed the White House in September 2003 that a criminal investigation had been launched into the leak of CIA agent Plame's identity to columnist Robert Novak.

1. As soon as I saw that headline, that Bush was mad at Rove, I thought
immediately that it was propoganda to protect the president. I hope Fitz can sense it too.

2. Heh, that's the first assumption I made when I saw DU's frontpage headline
Bush was a political operative working with Atwater and Rove for 30 years. He and Rove share all their dirty tricks with each other, and likely came up with the plan together.

Media doesn't like to talk about Bush's REAL resume, heavy on the political dirty tricks.

3. But...but...but... this would mean that, Bush knew?
Hmmm.
What did he know, and when did he know it!

His testimony wasn't under oath was it?

5. I take it Rove is going down then.

If they're cutting the mooring ropes to the SS Karl, he must be sinking. Time to distance him from Bush.

10. They needed to form a separate group - like the Swift Liars to do
the dirty work. It is messy when you have to do the smears yourself.

8. Muddy The Waters
You can tell there's gonna be indictments when you see stories like these. Purely to create noise and misinformation that can be picked up as hate radio and right wing talking points.

Personally, I'd like to see little Georgie walking into that biiiiig white house and see none of his friends are there anymore. That sounds like the game that's happening here...call it prep work if you may.

If/when the indictments are handed down...especially if Rove's name is on one, the questions will focus on what Fredo Boooosh also knew and if Rove had been honest with him about his involvement. I even suspect that Rove was questioned just like Judy was as to if boooosh had any knowledge of what was going on.

By saying that Rove kept the dirt away from boooosh, this gives that escape hatch for the wingnuts when Rove becomes far more radioactive than he is right now...and to protect their boss from too many people wanting to know his role in this mess.
