NY Daily News ties WHIGs to Judith Miller. "Judy was a charter member."
Edited on Wed Oct-19-05 03:14 PM by seafan
October 19, 2005

BY JAMES GORDON MEEK and KENNETH R. BAZINET
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU

WASHINGTON - It was called the White House Iraq Group and its job was to make the case that Saddam Hussein had nuclear and biochemical weapons.

So determined was the ring of top officials to win its argument that it morphed into a virtual hit squad that took aim at critics who questioned its claims, sources told the Daily News.

--snip

Besides Rove and Libby, the group included senior White House aides Karen Hughes, Mary Matalin, James Wilkinson, Nicholas Calio, Condoleezza Rice and Stephen Hadley. WHIG also was doing more than just public relations, said a second former intel officer.

"They were funneling information to Judy Miller. Judy was a charter member," the source said.

33. I'm guessing the NY Times has some disgruntled reporter leaking
like mad because of the BS that has gone on with Judy Kneepads and her (non)boss, Keller.

I'll bet the REAL reporters there are going to get the garbage flushed one way or the other.

Expect more info inside the Times to be reported by other papers.

20. And A Lot Of Conflicts
The Times has all but negated itself on this entire story. MSGOP and NBC are next to fall. The Post and Murdoch's media empire is in full "circle-the-wagons" mode...so that vacuum you say is right there and I wouldn't be surprised if the Daily News is jumping in to grab some headlines, readers and rub in a little salt.

Seems like after years of people sitting on information, things are flowing rather freely right now. It gets curiouser and curiouser.

has single handedly destroyed the NYT's journalism leader thing, a sitting Vice President and his staff and added a few more holes in the swiss cheese that was her reputation. OH, and her *journalism* peers give her an award - yesterday. How embarrassing for those idiots at the SPJ.

By doing that, she probably hoped to keep her direct involvement with the rest of the WHIGs hidden.

22. She IS the Little Drummer Girl ... an agent for THEM
She was completely coopted by Libby and the WH. They had a journalist on the team, and she was IT.

As the inevitability of the indictments approaches, we will see more and more terror, and suggestions of terror threats, real or imaginary.

I have my own ideas where the terror threats are really coming from, and I think this is probably it:

to squelch the librals claiming another illegitimate
election.
He gave his pathetic speech that the Democrats just
don't got what it takes to beat the Thugs.
He said that the Dems aren't religious enough prefer womans prochoice and aren't tough enough when it comes to war.
That we Dems are wrong on all the issues!

My response was.....F*ck you Carvel!!!!!
And that the election was stolen in 2000 and it was F*cking stolen
in 2004! And when Bush holds the Polsters at gunpoint to push
those F*cking phoney numbers in favor of his popularity ....

32. I have hated the NYT coverage of EVERYTHING immensely since 2000.
I read a book about the Times's foreign coverage and it was good, but not super compelling. I was still looking for concrete, compelling explanations describing the atrociousness of its coverage.

In this Plame investigation, I am finding some VERY compelling explanations for their utter abandonment of journalistic integrity.

The NYT is going to have to do some serious and public house-cleaning and soul searching before this is over if they have any interest in even retaining a tiny shred of crediblity which has been tattered and fraying for years.

...is alive and well at the New York Daily News.

(Mr. Nelson was a great columnist for their paper until his passing in 2000. I'll always remember his column on Al Gore and the Internet. In this age of shoddy and deliberately misleading journalism, I miss his columns more than ever.)
