I cried for America
I fear for America
I am terrorize by America

Whereas America was once a fine and great country...
Whereas The people of the world once look up to America
Whereas there was once an American Dream

THE WINTER IS COMING

I was bored and so last night on the otherside of the world I watch C span Senate session.
I watch as Senator Reed introduce an Amendments to increase funding for heating for the less fortunate by 3.1 billion

Reason
Energy cost increase by 30%
Funding of 2 billion was not enough last year
Winter coming soon

Reed ask for a vote ...waiver for emergency
The Amendments didnt get through .... kill by politic
Point of order call
Amendment died a bitter cold dead.

Is this America?
A country that is willing to spend 200 billion on an illegal war
But WILL NOT SPEND 3.1 billion to help their less fortunate citizen
IS THIS WHAT HAVE BECOME AMERICA.... IS THIS THE AMERICAN DREAM

Winter is coming

Who will cry when winter come
Who will cry when the body turn cold
Who will cry for the little one
Who will mourn the passing from a bitter cold

When politic is more important then the people who vote
When elected representative can be so politcaly cold
When they act like kings
When they treat the less fortunate voter less than a human being
When they ALLOW WINTER TO CLAIM SOULS

Sad so vey sad

WHO IS THE TERRORIST?

2. Beautifully said!
I agree heartily with your sentiment! But it is not too late for any of us...that cold coming this winter will be touching the hearts of many who've suffered a long time and while I'm afraid lots of Americans will be dying from it, those who survive are gonna be hoppin' mad! Our home heating oil and propane gas prices are predicted to go up almost 70%...this is gonna hit where Americans don't like to be hurt, their pocketbooks! I predict that collective "BRRR" you'll be hearing might just turn into a mighty roar before long!

I saw your response in the other topic and I agree with you there, too! I intend to march in protest of this regime on Nov. 2 and join with as many others as possible to show responsibility for our future(and the world's future) by demanding an end to the torturing and suffering and death brought on by our leaders. I have a very old and ragged "Throw The Bum Out" sign that came in handy many years ago and it's time to get it out again.

It's already cold where I live and the longjohns just ain't cuttin' it!

3. If you think it makes you sad...
Try being one of the working poor in America.

4. Thank you.
That's so beautifully said.

I know I will be all right this winter, but it grieves me that I'm just scraping by and can't help people in the colder place I used to live - because they are going to need help.

And it grieves me that a majority in the Senate and the House don't care about people who aren't millionaires. I guess if the poorest among us die, it will mean more for those who remain and are mean enough to grab it.

5. It's going to be a horrible winter..........
as you so eloquently said, many will not make it through this winter because our "leaders" just don't care enough about the little people to do something.
In years past, the elderly have had to chose between food and medicine, now they'll have heat to throw into that equation as well. How this can happen in a country that calls itself a "superpower" is beyond me.
Thanks for your concern, Oversea Visitor. I hope wherever you are that these problems won't affect you. :hi:

6. Very well said as was your other very similar version...
Here

My daughter, who is expecting in the Spring, and her SO may come stay here for the Winter because of heating costs. She'll get one delivery of heating oil from NYS's HEAP ($400. max), and then since she hasn't been able to find a job in this crappy economy and he was only able to find a minimum wage job, they'll probably be screwed if they stay in her/our house down there. So they're thinking of turning the furnace to just above freezing, wrapping the pipes, closing up house and coming here with all their furkids.

With us being on SSD it's not that we're a whole lot better off but we scrap by and we'll hopefully have 8 cords of cut and split wood delivered ($40. a cord) in a couple of weeks and be able to add a few gallons of kerosene to the tank a month** for night use and backup if we go out so we'll manage I think/hope... sadly I wonder how others less fortunate will make it. :(

(**we have a dual furnace)

7. 'kill by politic'
'Whereas The people of the world once look up to America'

Thanks for your deeply moving poem. You are so right! These are sad, dark times in america.

I fear for my country, the cold is coming and our government doesn't care.

10. Yes the winter will be grim,
as u say, oversea visitor

"Let them freeze" said the 'compassionate conservatives' in George Bush's America in 2005. Meanwhile they made $1 million in one night at a Republican fund-raising dinner.

History will not treat them kindly.

12. Who will cry?
Those of us who have been poor, and are poor. We will cry, as we burn with rage.

I'm sorry I can't say more.

13. Your comments are international.
As well as US citizens cold/hungry/whatever while war soaks up resources, there are also British citizens in the same boat, and Iraqi's, and Afghans, and so many others.

Similarly, in Pakistan millions are homeless and 80,000(?) dead but Pakistan gov't is putting inane military strategy in the way of offered aid from India, while people die awaiting simple help.

Damn the follies of wars.
