Even though the official website says it should be.
Looking forward to it!

4. David Straithorn is amazing |

worth the price of admission. the use of actual McCarthy footage is great. But I thought some parts were a little muddled and pretentious. But overall thumbsup.

7. Yes, I saw it Saturday with my son. |

We had to drive into Chicago to find a theater. It seems as this movie was budgeted and categorized as independent, so it will be a limited release which is a damn shame. I wish more people could see it now. Most everyone will have to wait for a DVD release. The movie is now one of my favorites. It opens with Murrow giving a speech about what will happen to our media if it becomes corporate controlled, the masses will become dumbed down and complacent. Of coarse he said it much more eloquent than that as only Murrow could. The message in the movie about that time is so chilling as it relates to present times.

but I wanted more on McCarthy's fall from grace.
You saw the McCarthy era through the eyes of Murrow. You didn't get the whole story of the McCarthy rise and fall.

10. I remember watching all the McCarthy hearings in the 50's-- |
|
I also remember Murrow well so I'm not sure I even want to see the movie. I'm always disappointed.

What wonderful filmmaking. Even apart from the subject matter, the picture is damn near revolutionary: long master shots that slowly tilt or pan to reveal something that propels the story forward, framing and focus subtleties that use the visceral and subliminal to their best and riveting acting all around. The subtlety of not lapsing into simplistic filmic depictions of heroes and villains is more than just refreshing.
A great script, stunning performances and a truly deft handling of subject matter that could so easily have slipped into the trite and shrill are remarkable.
There is hope.
I don't mean that just for the story, I mean that for the willingness to pay out a narrative slowly and take its time.
Hope you enjoy it, and I hope I haven't planted too many seeds in your head to distract you from the experience.
