Dear Cindy,
please DO NOT get arrested for the third time in DC! We love you and we do not want to have you in jail. We need your voice - please do not let them silence you by putting you in jail. The criminals in the WH are not worth it.

I read somewhere that even if she gets arrested she intends to keep going back and doing the same thing (tying herself to a fence) until they bring ALL of the troops home.
We shall see if it's a good strategy or not.
Regardless, she is definitely keeping the heat on *.

1. Well, putting someone in jail rarely serves to silence them. |
|
Prime examples being Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr.
Putting them in jail increased their support among the public. Jailing them had exactly the opposite effect of what was desired by their jailers.
I mean, I'd hate to see Cindy in jail, but I doubt seriously that it would silence her in any way.

Going to jail is the best thing that can happen to you. Nothing makes the government look worse.

4. What is wrong with Cindy getting arrested? |
|
More power to her. Getting arrested is basic civil disobedience.

5. A totally non-judgmental question |
|
Do you have friends or relatives who are/have been incarcerated? I do, so I understand where you get the idea that being in jail "silences" people. But that won't happen to a high profile political prisoner like Cindy Sheehan.

6. Basically, I would hate to see someone who is dear to me |
|
to be in jail, that's all. Think about it, Thanksgiving and Christmas in jail. I know a lot of good can come out of it, but I still hate the idea. Also, to be completely honest about it, I know I do not have the fortitude to do as she did, and so staying outside in the comfort of my home would make me feel like a hypocrite or someone who is cheering for a boxing match but not actually taking any punches himself.

9. Why do you think she would be in jail for any length of time? |
|
Thanksgiving and Christmas in jail!? Unless Cindy attacks an officer or does something else felonious that is not likely to happen.

I didn't know she would be going to trial. That would be excellent if it happened, but I can't imagine any sane prosecutor would do that.
In any event, she was arrested today and it is my belief she will be out tonight. But I could be wrong.
