WP reporting no GJ extension, BOTH Rove & Libby worried about indictments |
|
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/10/27/AR2005102702242.htmlObviously they have different sources than the NYT has. I'm waiting to hear what Fitzgerald says.

Rove, Libby Assemble Team to Handle Possible CIA Leak Indictments
By Jim VandeHei and Carol D. Leonnig Washington Post Staff Writers Friday, October 28, 2005; Page A04
The White House, district court officials and two possible targets of the CIA leak investigation were making preparations yesterday for the possible announcement of indictments by special counsel Patrick J. Fitzgerald today, according to several sources familiar with the investigation.
Two sources said I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Vice President Cheney's chief of staff, was shopping for a white-collar criminal lawyer and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove began assembling a public relations team in the event they are indicted.

I will wait until I hear it straight from Mr. Fitzgerald, because apparently he is keeping this close to his vest.

10. Fitz can request another grand jury be empaneled |
|
He can continue that way.
I didn't see anywhere in the article where they definitively said that the current GJ would not be extended.
I did read earlier today that he would not extend the current GJ, but would empanel another one. This makes sense, given that the current GJ has been working on this for two years and might need to get on with their lives.

OldLeftyLawyer all day yesterday, kept saying to what must have amounted to a thousand posts, was:
NOBODY "KNOWS" NOTHING YET.
LOL... This proves he is dead on. WP: no GJ extension... Rove and Libby are "worried" lol... and NYT: GJ to be extended.. Rove not yet indicted tomorrow, but further investigated and Libby to be indicted.
I'm not believing anything until the facts are in. It's way better for my health.
Now... onto reading some entertaining threads....

13. Not necessarily mutually exclusive-- |
|
If Fitzgerald extends this, then they both should be worried--and some other people should be worried as well.

19. OFF? Are you kidding? |
|
Either a federal judge has agreed to continue this grand jury or s/he has agreed to empanel a new one--to investigate Rove and perhaps others.
I don't know much about Law, but I can see that this is a beginning rather than an end.

24. I don't know where you got THAT reading... |
|
According to the WP article, the GJ won't be extended, and it's likely both Rove and Libby will be indicted.
The NYT, on the other hand, says that Rove won't be indicted yet and the GJ will be extended.
Now, I don't know which of them is accurate, but it would seem that either the case will be extended or Rove will likely be indicted tomorrow. One or the other. Not a combination of the two that would leave Rove uncharged and the investigation over.

17. Question.. What time of day does the grand jury usually start? |
|
I believe they meet MWF and would like to have an idea when indictments might be handed down. I realize there may be indictments under seal though.

For one thing, if the sources are Libby and Rove and/or their attorneys, how reliable can that be???
