Chimp Excuse for softpedalling on Libby: "concern for the legal process." |
|
A former White House official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the official still provides regular advice, said Bush needs "moves of conscience and conviction" that evoke the leadership abilities that helped get him re-elected.
Some Republicans inside and outside the White House were angered by Bush's handling of Libby's exit. They viewed it as a missed opportunity to restore badly needed credibility because the president neither condemned the aide's actions nor acknowledged that White House spokesman Scott McClellan had said categorically in 2003 that Libby was not involved in the leak.
Bush and his aides considered the political benefits of such statements, according to a senior administration official, who spoke confidentially so as to not be seen discussing internal deliberations. But the idea was rejected out of concern the president's words could influence the legal process. Bush instead merely called the charges "serious" and urged against a rush to judgment. He and Cheney both praised Libby for his public service.http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051029/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_what_next;_ylt=Aunuq8B9.ABQvhuKfbjH_x.s0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTA3OXIzMDMzBHNlYwM3MDM-Yeah. Right. :eyes: They would hate it if the legal process somehow failed to find ALL the facts in this matter. I'm SO glad they have so much respect for "the rule of law." :sarcasm:

1. Wouldn't it be refreshing to see shrub DO THE RIGHT THING |
|
simply because it is the right and ethical thing to do? He disgusts me. He and his cronies are morally and ethically bankrupt. Their behavior is shameful.

2. Yup -- they "considered the political benefits" |
|
and we're supposed to believe they're so high-minded, they decided to sacrifice political benefits to do what they did -- praise Libby (and isolate him, and continue to spread lies about Wilson) because it helps the legal process, despite the great harm to their political positions...
How STUPID do they think we are?!? Oh that's right -- talkin' to their base...

This president is very clueless. He tries and tries to understand a situation, and he tries to act in the best manner. And he STILL blows it. He screws up most of the time. I do not envy his handlers in Washington. They are probably clueless about human relations, cause-and-effect and ethics and how to act.
I'm looking at a photo of Bush in the Saturday Oregonian newspaper. The headline is "Bush in crisis". It shows a photo of Bush smirking, smiling as he reacts to the multiple crises.
He just looks like an arrogant, smirking ass. His handlers probably said, "get out there and smile". "It shows you're confident, that nothing can hurt you". On the front page, there's a photo of Scooter Libby, obviously he's just gotten the word. He's got a BIG smile plastered all over his face. Rove also is smiling, laughing, even "clowning around, playing pranks" according to Yahoo news.
It just goes to show you: clueless.
