Is the The Library of Congress backed up ?
After reading some of the recent headlines made by the people that
were in charge when 9/11 happened, there was much discussion here at the moof hut about what targets might be the highest on the list for destruction if the powers that be decide cover is needed for the next selection.

To this end do any of the fine folks here at DU have any idea as to the extent of backup of all the information at the Library of Congress ?

If WTC 7 was an attempt to destroy records then what other records/evidence are at risk of being thrown on the fire if "they" have anything to say about it? If people are going to be allowed to avocate mushroom clouds over foggy bottom then shouldn't something be done to insure that America's historical records are in a place that could survive such an attack? Are any of the Governmeant records backed up besides the ones at the IRS ?

It seems a shame that with so much evidence to suspect that the WTC would be attacked from the air that no one had the presence of mind to station a couple people on the roofs with shoulder launched missles so as to avoid the destruction.

It now seems that we are again being threatened but no one is taking any steps to insure that no other American Symbols or records are at unnecessary risk.

Remember there was another great library at Alexandria.

1. This may help. The biggest threat to libraries, by far, is water.
Because they are pretty fireproof, that is not the worry. (I'm a Collection Development Library Assistant). Water damage is the worst disaster that can befall a library. Insect infestation is also a major concern.
